You might consider the Fenix ACS. It is now capped at 20bps in semi mode, has a lighter microswitch, new blade type trigger, anti-chop bolt and some other improvements -

I think some of the 01 and 03 markers may be going in that price range as well. Have heard some people having probs with the Dragun/Odyssey markers though -

My friend that owns Atomix in Michigan is releasing a new Piranha named the 'Evo' at the World Cup this coming week. It will be equipped w/a WAS Equalizer board that has an anti-chop eye system. The Equalizers are normally capped at over 30bps. I'm sure it'll have some decent milling and ano as well. I will finally get to see this one on Friday. I have no idea on the price is but I suppose it may be within the $200-300 price range(don't quote me on that) -

Essentially you're not gonna get too much of a tourney marker for $250 unless you get something as I mentioned or go used, used....... you're still not gonna get too much for $250 either. Maybe just save a little more for something more expensive. Hopefully you have a fast hopper and an N2 tank already -

e-bay.. do a search. You can get some good used markers speedball/woods...in that price range. I would suggest what DRAGON said. And he is right about, there is not many decent tourny marker, that is in the $250 range.

I would recommend E-Bay, because there are many new/used markers that you can bid, or buy it now, at a good range, because a lot of players get every new gun that comes out, and try to sell their old ones to get the money back they spent on the newer one. You would be surprized on what you can find on e-bay.

A kid down the road, got an Angel on e-bay for $50... really amazin.. becasue i was one of many whom bidded on it.. but yea.. you should check there first..

^ Don't buy Electros on E-bay...

A Spyder Pilot is pretty good for the price, and it runs much smoother on C02 then the Fenix Would....

Though you'll need a Vertical Elbow to put your Hopper on.

pirana has a new gun out called the evo 4 or sumthin like that, it has eyes, but only get like 15+ pbs, its only 250 so it sounds like a good deal. i havent shot one, i just say it in an Action village catalogue, id say, save for an electro pneumatic like a bko for 300, its low pressure, and upgradable, theyre a great deal for the $

BKO's are supposedly very good markers.....all I've heard bad about them is the stock bolt, causes alot of blowback, but that can be fixed, just by a new vapor bolt for it.......^^^^ the evo sounds good too......I'm hopin that WAS'll release the Equalizer Board for Tippmanns at the World cup also.......fingers crossed....

Don't go for any of that autococker garbage. You'll be spending more on parts and maintenance than you will want to.  Plus you have to buy alot of expensive parts for them.

I've been looking at some of the Spyder E-trigger models for my next marker. Their styling is great. They are exceptionaly reliable (unlike some guns *cough*cockers*cough*). Insane upgradability. Worried about running out of battery power for the e-trigger? Don't. 9v battery runs them 10k-15k shots.

Was looking at a Spyder E99 Avant or the Imagine, last night. The E99 runs for $135, the Imagine for $119

you would rather own a cheap spyder rather than a cocker. It makes me mad when people who know nothing about autocockers talk so much crap about them, but its just cause your so stupid you dont understand how the gun works and you expect it to work without cleaning it.

Oh and by the way you should either get a cocker or a Dragun TES, or a Piranha EVO.

i would suggest a mongoose 2 and with that extra cash get a loader like the apache.  You will probably eventually want to get a good n2 tank like a crossfire or nitroduck.

Yep. I'd rather own a gun that is inexpensive, reliable, and doesn't require me to either be a rocket scientist, or take it to a shop and spend hundreds every of the many times that it breaks. Which is why I love my Tippy.

I know enough to know that cockers are owned by people with more money than sense (what kinda idiot would spend $1400 on a gun w/no barrel (when the barrel costs $50-200 additionaly), when a $200 marker shoots just as well and will last 10x as long that comes WITH a barrel?); usualy the people you see on the field screaming and hitting their markers, or going ballistic because they got hit. Parts are expensive. More seals and microlines than you'd ever need.

So Autocockers were the first paintball markers made, that doesn't make them better. There IS a reason why you see $180 Tippy Carbine's out there for rentals at most fields, all beat up, chipped paint, still going strong who knows how many years later, rather than an autococker. They last. Cockers don't.

Go into any pro shop or paintball store. Take a look at what guns are on the workbench. I'll bet you 8 times out of 10 that it'll be a cocker of some sort. And I'll bet you that it'll take them more than a day to fix it. I've seen it too many times before in two different states I've played in now.

So in short, yes. I would rather have a cheap gun that I can use without worry of breaking it. That I can pull 1 pin out of and disassemble it for cleaning and oiling (or just a few allens, in the case of the tippy). That I can drop and not have a dozen things break. A gun where I don't have to make sure 20 different valves and seals are precisely tuned so that it works right.

There is a saying that I like. The gun doesn't make the player good.

Flash your thousand dollar gun around all you want. But when it boils down to me vs you on the field, will it truely help you to be hosing down my bunker with a case of paint when a single well placed shot will end my day? Very unlikely.

yea he is dogin cockers pretty bad and he doesnt realy know what hes talkin bout but i still don't recomend a cocker, there good, but out of that guys price range sure he could afford a wgp 03 but he doesnt have the experience or cash to keep it prime it sounds like,

ps: dont get a dragun nothin but bad news if ur new to this sport just get a spyder, not to complicated, and there not exactly quality but what u expect for 250 dollars unless u consider a tippy  not real good for speed though

I'm not bashing cockers, but I'm not really a fan either.

The new Spyders with the ACS bolts are actually pretty nice, even though I favor Tippmanns for the low-priced markers. If you want something flashy and fast, the Spyder Fenix or Pilot should work pretty well for you.

The new ACS bolt is designed to not chop paint without using the more expensive anti-chop eyes. Instead, the bolt has a small spring in it. If the bolt hits a ball, the spring compresses and the bolt stops moving forward, so you get no chop. Genius!
