For the a-5 yeah that's true but the 98 custom has porting. Little, but some. The barrel will be louder than most becasue of this. Personally, I don't care about loudness. Most time when I shoot people already know ehere I am unless I'm being sneaky. In that case I get them with one shot anyway so it doesn't matter. ------------- I need to find smaller pictures for my profile. |

If you're using a flatline properly, it's not really an issue. I've foun two excellent tactics for the flatline (keep in mind I play woodsball). Either sit back, and use the sheer range to suppress enemies- with the amount of paint you'd use for this, noise is irrelevant since they'll find you anyway. Alternatively, use the flatline's accuracy at the mid-range to set up wicked ambushes in the woods. Wait for a couple guys to come into your area of operations, and light them up with 12 rounds or so. (I shoot til I see the hands in the air). They may get a few return shots off, but it will be rushed shooting. Up close, they might get you this way, but hanging back with a flatline they're much more likely to either shoot short or lob it into the tree canopy. In either case, they'll know you're there, and the noise is irrelevant. Now, if you like to sneak around and 'hunt' with the flatline- which I also like to do- it's good for the job too, but noise becomes more of a concern if there's a second guy you don't shoot. Nonetheless, the noise of a paintball gun carries enough that anyone in range to shoot back at you will hear you regardless of how quiet your barrel is. If they're close enough to shoot you, you ought to know they're there if you're being careful. And if they aren't close enough to shoot you, well, with a flatline you're probably close enough to shoot them. ;) ------------- "Abortion is not "choice" in America. Yes, definitely louder than my armson stealth, my empire 7-pc, and possibly even my old armson pro. It can make a difference. It depends on how you attack the opposition. Some food for thought: First Premise: The opposition knows they are being shot at when (less obvious to more obvious) They feel the impact,Second Premise: The opposition knows where incoming shots are coming from when (more precise to less precise) They see the balls in flightThird Premise: Each shot the opposition detects helps them determine where the shots are coming from. Fourth Premise: If somebody is in an intense situation, (shooting, being shot at by others, running, etc) then their ability to hear incomming shots will be degraded (not denied), and they are focused on a smaller area (i.e. the person they are shooting at). So, if you shoot from somewhere outside their field of view (from the sides to behind them) then you deny them the opportunity to see the shots (unless your shots pass in front of them). If you shoot from a sufficient distance, with a sufficiently quiet barrel (quieter barrels allow for a closer distance) then you will degrade their ability to locate you and in some cases, deny them the ability (I've had many instances where I fired on someone, and missed, without them knowing, and even a some instances where I didn't miss). However, once you get an impact (on them, or within their view) they will know what area the shot came from and will most likely focus their attention there. There is no porting on the 89c Flatline, the holes you see on the end of the barrel is the muzzle break. And Ive said this in another thread bout the same question, porting on a Flatline barrel would loose its ability to give the paintball the backspin effect and also, if a ball breaks within the barrel (thats if someone ported one), you would need to take the shroud (98c and the A5) apart jus to clean it. And its been mentioned many times before, it doesnt matter what type and brand of barrel is used on the marker, you will still be heard. ------------- Do not steal....the government hates competition!
