i went to wallmart tonite and seen a ton of tippmann m98 there. I dont go there much so i dont know how long they have been there

but why tippmann go to walmart just seems a bit low to be on the same shelf as blades and talons -------------

Also unfortunately, most of the people that shop at walmart haven't spent a whole lot of time researching markers, and if they want to get into the game it's "Well, Walmart has markers, let's check them out" And, when stacked up next to the shiney spyders and spyder clones, the flat black of the tippmann 98 doesn't do well sales wise. I haven't heard of anyone whose picked up a tippmann from walmart, although it was a good idea. I'm also thinking that it's indicative of the extra stock of 98's (not customs) that Tippmann has produced that they branched themselves out to walmart. I wonder if they've got that many left over that they'd just mail me a few. ------------- ? |

You can also look at it positively as in "Walmart supports Paintball". Who cares what is on the shelf with the Tippmanns, at least they sell them. As far as the money costs go I remember when people thought I was crazy for buying a $1,500 road bike (For youm0nt - Cannondale Criterium model circa 1988). I have found that there are several levels of sporting goods in almost every sport. There is the stuff for the entry level participant or occasional participant and there is the stuff for those that are serious and wish to compete. A lot has to do with the quality of the equipment however contests have been won by people with entry level equipment and a big heart and lots of training. (Didn't mean to get philosophical.) |

hhm...this is one of those things that makes you think..who cares?
Its a product at a huge nationwide retailer. no one is like OMGZZ legos at walmart, why stoop so low? they make money, duh. |

When I joined the sport, I researched paintball guns first. The 98 custom definitly looked like the best choice. I'd never buy one from Walmart, though... I think I got mine online for $120 shipped.

| Not for a serious mountain bike. It all depends on what you plan to do with it. I've seen them for up to $4500 now. You may want to PM youm0nt. Youm0nt is the forum expert on mountain bikes. My competitive biking was road racing, and mountain biking was only early and late season training. Youm0nt is up to snuff on mountain biking and can give you some good leads as to price and brand. |
