I remember what it was, but I have no idea about the animosity floating around. It was a mobile paintball field for fairs and such. I sure would like to know...

Ok guys here's the deal with RCA.
Me and HwayHzrd worked for a guy who shall remain nameless.
He was unprepared, and lied to us many times about many things. Money, occomodations, and other certain freedoms.
Hway was supposed to be the arena manager (in fact that was to be his title). He was treated with ZERO respect. In fact I'd say he was treated with less respect than me and I was just a worker.
The owner owed Hway about 1100 bucks, hway has only seen about 400.
The owner still owes me 500 bucks (and I'm being nice). He says that he will not pay me becaue I walked off the job...trust me a lesser man would have walked off the job alot sooner that that. The only reason that I did not was because I believed in the cause of "bringing paintball to the masses". I really believed that it would get better.
The RCA is no more. The website probably hasn't been removed because the owner is too darn stupid to remove it.
The owner also owes alot of people ALOT of money, not just me.
Listen guys, I'm a Christian and I don't normally dislike people to the degree that I dislike this moron. I really do need to forgive him and let it go...but it is really hard.
I go to physical therapy because I pulled a muscle in my back working for this guy, in fact I'm going today.
I will answer any questions if I can about this bogus buisiness, and what me and hway are going through because of it.
Sorry about the late reply,

I don't think that it's ever going to work out, so I'm just trying to forget it. I'm too poor to sue the guy.
He'd just claim chapter 11 anyhow, and I'd be out that much more dough.

That really, really sucks....
If this guy owes money to several people, maybe you should consider
joining together with the other people who were wronged and then
take some legal action.
Out of curiosity, what type of stuff were you doing for the RCA? Could
you give me a run-down of the average day working for this moron?

Oh, we did just about everything. I spent most of my time fabricating support beams for the arena. Hway did alot of odd jobs (wiring, insulating the trailer, filling out paper work), as well as helping me sometimes.
Here is a typical day.
7:30am we get up and start work imediately (the boss wakes us). Me and another hiree work on frame fabrication and alot of other hard labor, mostly moving things from place to place, stuff like that.
We get lunch about 11-12 pm, maybe...depends on the boss's mood.
This is another fiasco, I handed him 10 bucks on two different occations and recived no change. It was very soon after this that I demanded that we be able to get our own lunch. This, of course, did not sit well with this guy.
We would then work till 11-12am at night. I chose to stay in the trailer with the other worker, because we had more privacy that way. Our only other choice would have been to stay with the phsyco family in the little house they rented...didn't really want to do that.
We would then get up at 6:30-7:30 (depending on how soon people arrived) and start all over again.
The thing really started to have all the ear marks of a mind controll cult. starvation, lack of sleep...(the sleeping times I have given are generouse 2 days we worked on about 3 hours of sleep, no breaks.)
The "boss" would disapear for hours on end and lock up the trailers so that we couldn't access some of the tools. This got real annoying real fast. In fact the fourth or fifth time he did this I cracked and decided to leave. I figured if he didn't want to respect me why should I respect him...so I went home.
I couldn't have gotten home if my parents haden't decided to go get my car and bring it to me. They were getting really concerned when I called them and told them what was going on. Which was difficult because either the guy or his little brat sons would consistently hound you if you got on the phone for 10 minutes. They would want to know who you were calling, and why you were calling them...really wierd
Well I gotta go,

I might do it again, but I would be alot more carefull about who I'm getting involved with.
The amount of work wasn't really the problem, it was the way we were being treated.
If Tippmann decided to do it again and gaurantee our sleeping arangements and our pay then I'd probably do it again in a heart beat.
However, anyone that does this will probably lose money at first. This is a really good idea, just needs someone with a little more financial security and brains to run it.

I am going to be good and and not pile on. However, it would be incorrect of me to disagree with the claims made previously.
Like Reclusive, I stuck it out as long, as I could because I too, believed in the cause.
The conditions were atrocious, the respect was at a zero level. If you weren't part of the "family clique", you were screwed completely.
This misadventure nearly cost my family our home. I am still owed money I will never see. 'Nuff said.
That's all I can say.

I'm glad you both realized that each deserve far better treatment than you were getting and you got out of there. You deserve great credit for sticking it out as long as you did, being owed so much and working so hard. May you both, and others, get what you are due from this man.

I have to say this in the interest of being fair, a huge risk was taken to even get the Road Challenge Arena off the ground, and I still to this day wish it had worked out differently.
I still believe in the concept, and feel that it would work in different circumstances.
Kirk took a huge risk to try and realize the dream that was the Road Challenge Arena, placing his family at huge risk financially.
I wish him and his family no ill will, in fact I wish that things had gone well for the Arena, regardles of any personal issues. This is because I did and still feel that it could have been a very good thing for the forwarding of paintballs' future.
What it all boils down to is that things in life do not always go as planned, and at some point you have to at least try and let go.
I am making an attempt at doing this, and am praying for guidance from God in doing so.
My sister has a great saying about situations like this one: "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted."
It's past time for all parties involved to get past all of this and move on. After all, it's the Christmas season. If you can't find it in your heart to forgive and forget at Christmas time, when can you?

I didnt see this thread until now, and wow. I kind of figured what reclusive said, but he even had his family questioning you? I remember the thread where he said he was starting it, and everyone said it would never work. I dont know, maybe its that my preception of him has changed, but looking back he did seem immature on the forum to be a success... Again, maybe thats just my new preception because i havent heard from him for this long.
Edit: Yeah, it was my mistake, he presented himself well...

RCA had plenty of sponsors (including Tippmann). But if somebody is underwriting the whole thing, then they aren't sponsors - they are owners. Everybody has got to have skin in the game...

Hway is correct. Forgiveness is key.
This has been a little difficult for me bcause if my back, but I
need to forgive this guy. And I do. Bitterness only destroys the
bitter party.
