please type using English so everyone can understand you.

Its not happening unless the constitution is amended, and good luck with that happening anytime soon.

Isn't he not able to do that since he wasn't born in the country? Governor is ok, but prez has to be born here I thought..

It won't happen.  There is no chance in hell.

Well, why not.  All it takes is an amendment to the Constitution.  It's all the rage now-a-days.

If there's a Constitutional Amendment, he might be able to do it. However, Constitutional Amendments are very difficult to introduce/ratify.
Congress can't "make an exception." Congress doesn't control the Constitution, nor does the Constitution give them the power to "make exceptions."
At the present moment, it would be 100% impossible to run Arnold for President. He does not meet the basic requirements to run for that office.

Giving him an "exception" would be against everything America stands for. If people could make "exceptions" to the constitutions i wouldnt even consider this to be a somewhat free country, because as leftist as my opinion is lets just face the facts. America is not a totally free country.

No, and quit trying to get attention by quoting your age. Just cause you can spit back a few things you heard from your social studies class doesn't make you politicaly aware. And, too much democracy can be a very dangerous thing. So I think our idea of a representitive democracy is the best way to go. But then you have to deal with politicians. So, there are pro's and con's.

No, it is NOT possible at the current moment.
If there was a Constitutional Amendment, it would be possible for him to run. Until that day, he cannot.

Go read the Constitution and be quiet until you know what you're talking about.

I have no idea of his politics but the fact that he disagrees with Bush on a lot of major issues and is still supporting him because he's republican makes me squirm....That and he's a tool for the bush campaign who obviously has no idea about what he's talking about...."Don't be an economic girly man!"...ok, so don't be an whimp, forget about all the job loss going on and the tax breaks for shipping our jobs to other countries? That makes since....but I'm not gonna get into bush right now....

Did I say I liked the electoral college? I said a direct democracy could be dangerous, but in this case I think it would be the better way to go.

I'd say it's a lot more frightening that you cannot spell. It also sounds like you've never read the Constitution, and have no real grasp on how the United States Government operates.

Want to start discussing government? I don't want to make you look like more of an idiot than you've already done by yourself, but I can if you want...

Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) has been proposing a constitutional amendment for some time to allow foreign-born people to run for President after they have been citizens for 20 years.  Schwarzenegger became a citizen in 1983 or so...

Alright, I can just pretend that "make an exception" bears some resemblence to "make a Constitutional Amendment," even though it's not the same thing by any stretch of the imagination.
However, if you "no" (know, for those who speak English) the Constitution by heart, then you would "no" that Congress cannot pass a Constitutional Amendment. It must first be introduced (which CAN be done in Congress), and then ratified (which must be done by the states).

The chances of that happening by 2008 are Slim to none, and Slim just left the room...

the electoral college is a system, it doesnt just pic who's pres
we vote for who we want to be president and who ever wins in each state is the way our senators and reps are supposed to vote
thats why you always see them campaigning in states like ohio, pennsylvania, and florida because they have more sen. and reps to vote in the college

He would win if they let him run.
He is charismatic and moderate.
He got elected as a Republican in CA, where Gore won by 12% in 2000.

Politically aware? No.
What's scary is how naive, arrogant, and apparently
illiterate a fourteen year old is.

Homosexual marriage "wont be alowed?"

Er...  It's already legal in Massachusetts.

I tend to agree, though - it is unlikely that the Constitution will be amended in time for Ahnold.  It would be really funny, though, given Demolition Man.

You have to wonder what state this country is in to not even be able to elect a naturally born citizen to be the supreme ruler.

Not that I am against it but still...

Uhm no, California has the largest amount of electroal votes 57 to be exact, thats 55 members of the house and 2 senators. to be elected president you need about 237 minimum i believe it is i'd have to double check.

They campaign in thos states because they are swing states, why waste money campaigning in a state you know you're going to win?

And the popular vote is for the candidate not for the party. In MOST states but not all if the electors vote against what the people vote they are fined and given jail time. California is one of those states. Very few states have "faithless electors" as they're called.

In my opinion the electoral college is absolute crap. I expect we'll have another election this year like we did in 2000 where the candidate who won the popular vote wasn't elected president. Its happened about 3 times now...

I think Arnold would be a great president, but he happened to be born in Austria. So i dont think he'll be elected anytime soon. I've heard rumors about them changing that though. Anyways hes doing a good job as governor. Also, whoever said America should be fully democratic country like Canada, think that through. Does Canada look like they're better off than the US? No.

I am not sure Arnold wants to be President. I was under the impression he just wants to balance California's budget and not run again in the next election.

Plus, We still need his schedule free so there can be a Terminator 4.

Why?  He's done a pretty good job in Cal, and would probably be a better prez than kerry or bush

Posted By: Frozen Balls

You guys are missing that the Senators and Representatives are NOT the Electoral College. The College is based on the numbers of Congress.
Each party then nominates, from within it's own most loyal members, those who will vote.

For example, CT has 7 votes. If kerry wins CT, the 7 dem's will vote. Each one gets a single vote. If Bush wins CT (good luck), then the 7 elected party members of the republicans will each cast a vote for pres and VP. They are supposed to vote for their party, and some states have laws mandating that they must, but others do not.

I think I covered that. Prolly forgot something.

edit: Oh yeah. Out of 538 electoral votes, you must get 270 to win.
