Just wondering what people here think of the proposed Missile Defense System. It is something that has been debated for quite some time now. The idea is developing a defense net of anti-balistic missiles to defend the United States from any sort of missile attack.
The reason I bring this up is because it's a rather large issue for Canada. In order for the defense net to properly work, the net would need to also surround Canada. Sounds good, but we essentially have to turn our National Defense over to the U.S to do it.
So....what'cha guys think.....

Maybe the missile plan wouldn't sound so great if you could describe the national defense system that your country is currently using....

Im not sure how the whole turning over your defense system would work, but the idea in general is a sound one.

Our plan is perfectly feasible. All we want to do is use giant lasers to damage the missiles during their boost phase. Then their MIRV's will reenter too soon and fall on Canada, saving the free world as we know it. You guys are just trying to stop progress

i think its a stupid idea to begin with. why spend like 8 trillion ( i think it was) to protect your contry from missiles, but somone could still walk in witha breifcase nuke and blow shiat up.

This could lead to another arms race. Building better missles then we can shoot down.... Building better things to shoote missles down with... and so on.

the military is developing a missile defince system that uses lasers, well a kind of laser, it uses the energy from the sun, magnifises it and shoots high powered light at the missile; and BANG bye bye missile, it has worked in test, but test could be wrong.

That is another one of their plans. I personally think this is even worse. The laser would be mounted on a satalitte, which is essentially militarizing space. Not cool.

Not cool. | .... what are you talking about? they'd be on earth, not a satalite. they look like giant red dot scopes, from what i've seen, they also have versions that can mount on a hummer, there smaller of course. you should watch tactical to practical i belive they showed it on there.

Any nuclear attack will come in the form of a brief case from the former Soviet Union.

As an after thought, I don't know how likely a ICBM attack is nowa days
but if we ever got hostile with China or Russia again it would be nice
to have.

You guys seriously don't think space is already being militarized? What about spy satellites? Why couldn't they have satellites up there capable of lasers, EMPs, or other technology? Just because something isn't common knowledge doesn't mean it isn't there.
