I just played halo 2 for a good 3-4 hours, i would've payed longer, but the kid who bought it has class in 4 hours. my first impression is that the game is awesome. first we played multiplayer. The double needlers and energy sword are sick. The maps are very nice as well. As for co-op we finished 3 levels. I firmly believe the game is better than the first. There is a nice suprise for the 4th level that i think everyone would enjoy.

I just did the same thing, seeing how I have no work today. I'm used to getting up at five, so this is a bit of a system shock for me.

Anyway, the game is very well put together, with a more cinematic feel to it. They put the in between level loading into the background, such as during cinematics, and the game flows very nicely. The outdoor scenes are very well done, but the indoor settings are much the same as the first, very similar and repetitive. Sometimes you have to go and trace your trail of bodies so you know which way to go.

One of the most subtle points in the game that I realized much later is that during the opening when MC is getting prepped and they ask you to look around at the lights on a grid, the game then sets the axis to be inverted or not. At least I think it does. I noticed that a multiplayer profile I made did not have the axis inverted, which is the default, but the character I went through some of the campaign with did, because I naturally choose that. Small, but a nice touch to get the game moving quickly. The controls are intuitive if you've played the first game, even the dual wielding.

The multiplayer levels, which I haven't gotten to really use yet, look really interesting. There are two multiplayer levels from the first game that I spent some time getting reaquainted with.

All in all, very nice game.

Edit: I will say this though, the menus, especially when setting up a multiplayer game, can get tedius. They're standard menu format, a column of selections you can make on the left and their current setting on the right, but you can't just press to the left or right to change it. You have to select it, which takes you to a sub menu where you can select from a list of values for the setting, then go back to the main list. A small thing, but somewhat annoying and counterintuitive for me.

I dont think menus can ever really be called "intuitive" on any console game. The input capability just isnt there.

I like the idea of loading in cinematics, why hasnt someone else done that before..

The cinematic loading idea is cool. I'm looking forward to playing it, but again, I think it is just a solid game. It doesn't pwn every other game out there, nor does it suck a big one... #2 should be cool.

Know whats funny? I got it, 2nd highly anticipated game that i got on its release date without waiting hours for or reserving it.

Meh, its ok, its more my brothers type of game, but co-op is still fun. Playing as the arbiter was kind of **edited**, its like 2 stories now i think, im up to the level right after that one. Also seems to be harder than the original, and the grenades dont go across the whole map now.

Ehh, 8/10...

I got to play multiplayer for a little over an hour today... I was impressed.
I love being able to fly the Banshee, though I was disappointed by the lack of a plasma cannon.

I'm pleased to say that I still pwn at Halo, no matter which version it is.

They got rid of the plasma cannon, because it was way overpowered in multiplayer in halo on the computer. I'm kind of glad they did it halo 2..

i had two SMGs ive been killing elites like they were the grunts of the old game, the grunts were just rediculous, the aspect of shooting a guy, reloading, and while reloading unloading your other gun, it adds a whole new dimension in the gun battles, theres no break in the fighting

You could stand in front of a sheet of untouched glass with two Klobs, fire off ten bullets, and there would only be 3 bullet holes, so officially, you really couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with one of those. I agree that the SMG is kind of underpowered.

For the record, I hate the flood. Not in that way that you hate a good villain, I just hate the flood. The energy sword is my kind of weapon, personal.

I really enjoy that you can get in the back of a warthog and the AI will drive. It sucks that sometimes they just stop and wait... for nothing.

During the little time that i had to play it, i have to say i was
impressed. The first part of the game really explained
everything to you. I was impressed with the graphics, and the
whole story line. The first level was cool, harder then i thought it
was going to be. The second level was just awesome, I love
how the game is now kind of an army game, like in a city. I also
liked how how your guys in the levels are pretty good. So when
my brother got home from football pratice i challenged him to
some 2 player action. We played that Blood Gulch kind of
level. That was very fun. Flying the banshee's is so cool. I bet
there are so many hidden things in that level thought. To sum
this up, Halo 2 is awesome, whoever doesn't think so, can kiss
my butt,

the arbiter thing was kinda cool at first, and i like energy swords... but man that level seemed to drag on, by the time it was over a was really ready to be in controll of a spartan again.

but probably my favorite feature about this game, is you can kick people out of vehicles... and the controls are cooler too, i really like the covenant vehicle boosts, and the warthogs e-brake.

but it does seem strange how any vehicle can be destroyed, but instantly becomes invincible when your in it... ok, not entirely invicible, freindly fire will still destroy it.

dual wield is cool, but you can't throw grenades, and everytime you hit someone you drop the extra weapon. and hitting is one of my favorite attacks.

Sadly I read the first 2. The first one was ok, cause it explained what the whole deal was with the game, then the 2nd book was a weak attempt to follow the video game, so it sucked.

Halo was originally going to be a Mac game, then along comes microsoft

And for you, oldschool, promo chief:

Halo was also originally a real time strategy game with alot more weapons and crap and... DINOSAURS!!!

I'll agree that the arbitor level was too long. I liked the part where you cut the cables and then free fall and then have to fight the heretic and his copy. But what is with the cliff hanger ending? And that big tentacaly flood like thing. The prophets kinda remind me of a dramatization of Catholic preists. There's some conflicting things though. The military guys say that MC's new armor is better than the covenant tech they used in the Mark V which was like the elites armor. Then the elites say that the arbitors armor isn't as new as theirs yet the MC's and the Arbitors sheilds act the same.
