Happy Veterans day to all you fellow vets out there.

Pray for our Joes overseas in the thick of it, and for the ones who are back and now have the long road of readjustment. Dont forget the ones who have faded onto the streets who just cannot fit back in. No matter what reason they are sent, I will always support our troops.

Without our brave soldiers our country would not be.

Today is Veteran's Day. In 1954 the name was changed to Veteran's Day from Armistice Day, Armistice Day being to commemorate the end of World War I.

This was because of an annual tradition in Emporia, KS. A cobbler there, Alvin King, who had lost a nephew in WWII decided that it was better to honor all veterans and the suggestion was made in 1953 to change the name to Veteran's Day. This quickly spread to the government through a Kansas state representative, and the name was changed the following year.

(I said this in the other thread, but I think it merits repeating.)

R. Lee Ermey is from Emporia. Weird. I had no idea. He's there today for the events. Dang, I wish I could make the drive down there today.

I spent 15 years in the Navy before being medically discharged and my wife spent 14 years in before being medically retired.

Let us not forget the many men and women who have unselfishly given of themselves to protect this great country.
