http://www.forceofnature.com/index.php/articles/news/277 - Well for 2005 two more leagues will be added to the painball world.  They are WPL and UAPL. I don't know if I persoanlly like the addition of a new league but I do like the sounds of the UAPL (paintball minor leagues) It will make it a little easier to move into becoming a pro paintballer.

What could be nicer in December, or any time of year, than to relax on the beaches of a tropical island, taking in the sun and the sights and then in late afternoon rolling down to play a little paintball? How about the debut of a new professional league with franchise teams all being filmed for TV broadcast to over 61 million homes? Aruba Madness is just around the corner held from December 2nd through the 5th where the World Paintball League makes it debut. Read the entire exclusive scoop found only on Forceofnature.com!

For years the Aruba event has been a nice spot for paintballers to vacation and have a little fun. Though its changed promoters over the years, it wasn’t until Milt Call and Paul Baulenbach got a hold of it last year that it turned into Aruba Madness. Following the successful production of the ultimate Madness for years in the 3-man format, 3-Man was introduced to Aruba last season to a relative success. This year, they continue as 30 teams have already signed up for 3-Man and 20-25 5-Man teams coming from various countries predominantly South American. Don’t worry though, as in years past, a few pros will be on the scene giving the locals a taste of what it’s like in the big leagues.

For those new to how the event works, games are played late afternoon after it cool and into the evening under lights. Players, who stay mainly at the local Holiday Inn which offers great room rates, then have the ability to enjoy the island. They can still take in the night life which is jumping downtown in local clubs, or enjoy the sun and surf just out the back door of the hotel. There are tons of things to do including wonderful snorkeling areas, Jeep-ing around the island, excellent local cuisine, a player’s party at the local Hooters and more.

Details on the Aruba event can be found at

In addition to the regular action, this year’s event marks he debut of the WPL ( World Paintball League). This new league will feature 24 new franchise teams who compete in the cage match format seen over the past two seasons at Ultimate Madness. In Aruba, 8 of the initial 24 teams will be on hand to play an exhibition in front of camera crews for the WGN Superstation Network. Teams playing in Aruba will include Dynasty, Avalanche, the Bushwhackers, Worrlocks, Doc’s Raiders, Stoned Assassins and more. Details on the final tv deal are still being finalized but the Aruba taping should air around February as the pilot for a new series where WGN Hopes it will “ be their Monster Garage”.

In addition to the WPL, the UAPL ( Ultimate Arena Paintball League) is also being created. The UAPL is the minor league system of the World Paintball League. The UAPL is the fastest way to become a pro player. With your membership to UAPL, you will be raising your level of play by competing with the world's best amateur competition. The WPL will be continually scouting the UAPL for players to pull up to pro-level competition. League competition is scheduled to begin in Fall of 2005. Before the league officially begins, preliminary competitions will be held beginning with the Aruba Madness competition, December 2-5, 2005 in beautiful Aruba. Additional competitions will be held including the Rage in the Cage competition in Spring of 2005. From these competitions, several players will be selected to play pro on one of the 24 professional paintball teams of the World Paintball League. A player draft from UAPL players is planned for Summer of 2005. The UAPL will feature Novice, Amateur and Women's divisions. Details can be found soon on
http://uapl.tv/ - UAPL.tv> .

I do like girls playing in paintball but I don't like them making thier own league just for them IMO thats dumb. The sport of paintball has nothing to do with being strong or fast it has to to with thinking fast and having the right skills. Both boys and girls can be on the same  equal level there. Pro Girl teams like Femme Fatale do just fine when they play against mens pro paintball teams.
