jeep, ill scan some of my pics of after when i went offroading with mine.
i have a 97 grand cherokee v8, probably one of the most versatile cars ever. not only was my car one of the best cars when i went offroading, i also beat my friends chevy 1500 with cat back exhaust, kn intake, and a new motor in a drag race.

i dont have any pics of when i was offroading, but i have some when i got back to my friends house. my scanner is broken so im gonna try to take picutres of pictures, give me a few minutes and i should have them up.

Yeah sure tell that to a guy with a Camaro SS that runs a 13.6 quarter mile with an auto or a Bimmer with the 7-speed auto tranny. People who think like you do don't know jack about cars, obviously. Who's the retard?

that 7 speed transmission is a sequential manual transmission so it really isn't an auto at all. it doesnt have a torque converter or a clutch pedal.

I agree. I like manuals a lot and I prefer them however an automatic setup right can be just as fun. All you gotta do is kit them, use heavy duty clutches or more of them and install a manual valvebody (cancels all automatic shifts so it must be shifted manually) along with a ratchet shifter and a high stall converter, they can be pretty badass.
Of course, autos are more expensive to modify and more expensive when they break.
Also, if you lived in San Francisco you wouldn't bad mouth autos at all. I dont mind driving in traffic with a stick but some people do and it can get annoying.

manual isnt bad in traffic, it can be tricky on a hill during rush hour, but you dont really think about it much, well i dont anyway, it gets where your not thinking about shifting or anything, not that big of a deal

You and the other guy brought up autos in sports cars before anyone said anything else.
However, if a truck is seeing offroad use then it shouldn't have an auto in it at all.
To say that autos are pointless in any type of street vehicle is very ignorant.

no one said they were completely pointless, what we said was they have no business in a sports car, unless its something special like the new audi, no gears, or the automatic where there are two shift plates, a primary, and a secondary, say your in 4th gear and your about to get into 5th gear, the secondary one is already in gear and ready to take over, you shift, and there is no lag no momentary loss of speed, nascar and the STI and the like use manuals for a reason

Autos for your uneducated minds are actually BETTER for EXTREAM heavy
weight when done RIGHT. There is a reason most ALL HEAVY
Equipment runs automatic transmishions.
A Torque Converter is actually used as a Torqe Multiplyer as well offering more gear ratios that a comparable Stick Shift.
I happen to prefeer the controle of a stick shift my self (Although my truck is auto ) to say that autos serev no purpose in anything other than a Mini Van is PURE IGNORANCE.
I happen to be a Mechanic and have spent some time in a Auto
Transmishion rebuild shop for the Transit buses and happen to find
these trans superior than most stick when looked at from the maintanec
point of veiw. Several of these trans would run 2 million kms
without being opened up for anything just changed the fluid and
filters. While a stick **edited** in the same application would have
gone through at LEAST 2-3 clutches.
Also ever heard of the UNI MOG a VERY universal 4x4 utility truck many
of witch are AUTOS and make some of if not the best LARGE 4x4s
ESPECIALLY when decending Steep downgrades.
AND if you spend you vehicals live pulling boats in and out of the
water go with the auto because youd be burnig clutches left and right
with a stick.

Here is my 'other' It is the most fun four wheel drive I have ever driven. Maybe not the best to tackle offroad trails, but it wins due to overriding fun factor. I have drove the hummer quite often in super nasty terrain, and it does rule. The wrx is way faster though, and will tackle some nasty mudholes. Just my very stupid opinion.

Now that we're on the truck subject anyways I thought I'd show off my new truck.
Just bought it a month ago, 97 GMC Sonoma. Step up sides, Tannuea
cover,57k miles, 5 spd manual, 4.3 liter high output v6. No rust
whatsoever, he pretty much had this thing parked.
New fulda assuro tires, along with new breaks, battery and clutch.
Got this all for $5,900 from a County Police officer.
EDIT: As you can see there are some smudges and the cover is pretty
dirty, but not anymore. I used some touch up paint and gave it a good
wash/wax.

while the new dodges do have true hemis (they do have hemisphereicle heads) that doesnt mean any thing any more tons of cars have hemisphereicle heads. and as for the hummer being the most over rated vehicle ever H2s are i wouldnt drive one of those on a dirt road but a m998 hmmwv or even a civi H1 are pretty badass. trust me i know ive been around military hummvees for the past 5 years

Jeeps all the way, but yes they do make models w/o 4x4. The Cherokee (XJ), Grand Cherokee (ZJ or WJ) and the Wrangler series (CJ on up) the 4x4 is considered an option. Almost all have 4x4, but a few do not.

Hemi stands for hemispherical as in hemispherical combustion chamber... everyone is so used to the street hemi in mopar performance cars (426 hemi) but there were all sorts of hemis 331s, 276s (Firedome), the 528 (610hp)... Mopar used the hemi design in the early 40s for military engines... but they didn't come up with it... they just made it famous...

I dont really care much for that one. Jeeps have always been known for the short wheelbase and that just seems pointless to make it longer.

I hope that was a joke, but if not yes they do. All jeeps are available in 4x4 and the wrangler only comes in 4x4

I have drove several models from GMC and Chevy. They are great vehicles for their intended use.
Auto 4 wheel works excellent but I'm still not a fan of the anti-lock brake performance. It still, to this day is calibrated and has the same flaws that it has had for many years. It takes away some capabilities that are hard to describe in emergency situations (i.e a deer jumping in front of you). When you completely mash on the brake it's almost like you accelerate.
I've had alot of experience with Jeep's and they can do things off road that alot of other vehicles can't do but they are top heavy on the road.
I'd get more road experience before buying a Jeep.

My parents have a 2004 ford explorer sport trac {2x4} that i drive mostly, i bought the jeep for local trails and stuff like that, its 2001 sport with low miles, i am gonna put a wench, 2 inch lift, brish gaurds, mickey tompson wheels and stuff like that on it. Its gonna be a beast. I have drove a chevy 1500 offroad and didnt like it that much, the jeep was really fun it just needs a lift. When i am on the road {traveling/dates ect.} i usually dirve my dads truck unless i am with friends or something. My dad also has 2 mustangs a 2005 GT, and a 66 fastback that we are going to restore
