Subject: Remote Line or Drop Forward?

Hey I just wanted to know which you guys reccomend to be my nest upgrade out of a Remote Line and a Drop Forward. I play only in large realistic urban areas and woodland areas. I have a few questions too:

1. I have heard a Remote Line works as an expansion chamber. Is this true?
2. Has anyones Remote Line ever gotten snagged on brush/branches etc. in woodland areas?
3. If I chose Remote Line where would a good place to put the CO2 bottle be?

Thankx for your help.

1. It kinda sorta works as an X-chamber. not really, though.

2. I've never had my remote get snagged. even if it did, it wouldn't be too hard to untangle it.

3. The best place would be in the pocket on the rear of a harness. most, if not all, harnesses should have a pocket where you can put the bottle.

Yes a remote line will function somewhat as a expansion chamber by giving the CO2 room to expand.  And since it almost always has to travel up from your harness on your waist to your gun, it will help prevent any liquid CO2 from reaching your gun.

Yes in fact this is the reason I never use my coiled remote line.  I am the type of player who likes to hunt and crawl up on my enemies.  I have found that trying to sneak through thick brush or branches while remaining silent and stealthy can be difficult.  I reccomend you borrow someones for a game or two and see if it fits your style. (I sure wish I had)

Usually people keep their tanks on their harnesses/vests.  Many harnesses you will see in stores are listed "4+1 harness".  The 4 means it will hold four paint tubes, and the 1 means it will hold a tank as well. Hope this helps ya

Hmm...my #2 question was just unanswered... First guy said it dosnt and even if it did it wouldnt be much of a distraction but the second guy said it does alot to him, but then again you crawl and sneak alot...like me...

I think the first guy was talking about it actually getting snagged and prevented you from moving before unsnagging it.  I not talking about it preventing you from moving but it grabbing branches and brush, possibly making more noise and movement than I want.

this has to do with the length of the line...my remote has a relatively short, tight line that really can't catch on anything. other remotes, though, may be longer and that's when you have problems.

1. it works ok, but not as good.
2. the coiled ones get tangled in thick bushes and brush sometimes. my friend got his snagged in a bush, dropped his gun behind him, and couldnt get out. so the enemy held him prisoner and shot him untill he gave away our positions, but he didnt. so unless your crawling through thick brush, you wont easily get caught.
3.most harnesses have a spot for them, but when i use my remote, i use my french gas mask bag. theres a lot of military stuff perfect for pods and tanks thats dirt cheap.

i dont really like remote lines. when its connected, your tethered to your gun, and the line tangles and gets in the way. but they do take the weight off your gun and make it more movable. i do own one, but barely use it.

but i like my drop forward a lot better. it keeps the tank well out of the way, balances it, makes it more maneuveravle and compact, and you can put down your gun and walk away without it following you.

i would definatly try someones out before buying one.

Those are comfort features so there your own preference depending
on where you feel your gun kneads to be balanced.

honestly i think you should try them out individually. then you should decide what kind of setup works for you. there will always be people that are different with their setups. its all personal reference. find out what will improve YOUR performance best

No one around me really actually has a remote line or drop that I know of. Not many people even own a paintball gun. They just go to play and rent guns.

I say drop forward.  It keeps all the weight of the gun in front of your which is really important when quick aiming.  It is really nice for both Woodsball and Speedball.  It keep everything in real close.  I recommend the DOP Drop Forward whatever...  It's in my Signature...  But, yea I found that the remote line was always something I had to worry about.  It might have made the gun alittle more easier to handle, but since I'm such a man for wanting everything in front of me ; I hated it.  Drop all the way.

1. I have heard a Remote Line works as an expansion chamber. Is this true? Yes its true and theres no need fer a Anti-Siphon tube in the tank.
2. Has anyones Remote Line ever gotten snagged on brush/branches etc. in woodland areas? Im sure someone has had that experience wit theirs, but as fer me....it never happens.
3. If I chose Remote Line where would a good place to put the CO2 bottle be? There are 2 locations that a tank can placed....1. The traditional location, in the middle between the pods on a harness. 2. A tank pouch like Ronin Gears tank pouch   http://www.iisports.com/product.asp?dept_id=3505&pf_id=XP4075A - http://www.iisports.com/product.asp?dept_id=3505&pf_id=X P4075A  that can be strapped to either leg (like a tactical gun holster) and looped around the belt...I would recommend the #2 it will be alot easier fer you to reach down when you need to turn the air supply on and off and much safer than having the tank on yer lower back and theres always a possibilty if you happened to slip and fall on yer back which would result in injuring yer spine, also you dont have to take off the pod harness if you need to refill yer tank, jus simply rip off the velcro straps and lift the tank from the leg pouch. And if you decide in the future on switching from co2 to HPA and still want to use a remote line go to  http://www.cops911.com/product.asp?id=10702 - http://www.cops911.com/product.asp?id=10702 they have tank pouch's that will fit HPA tanks.

Thankx for your help.
