http://www.iranpressnews.com/english/source/001327.html - A 14 year old boy is sentenced to 85 lashes for breaking his Ramadan fast !
A 14 year old boy died on Thursday, November 11th, after having received 85 lashes; according to the ruling of the Mullah judge of the public circuit court in the town of Sanandadj he was guilty of breaking his fast during the month of Ramadan.
The Kurdish site Rojeh´heh Lât reports that the young man´s identity has not been disclosed. He was scheduled for burial on Saturday, November 13th (after 3 days at the local morgue), in the cemetery of Beheshteh Mohammadi in Sanandadj. However due to the public´s realization of the events surrounding the boy´s circumstances the cemetery was stormed [in protest] and his burial did not take place.
According to informed sources, supervisors have instructed that the burial take place in the presence of his closest relatives, surveyed by security forces.

You do know that Lutheran is just a form of Christianity, right?
I go to a Presbiterian church, but I don't associate myself with any
form of Christianity. I believe in God and worship him however I
want and however I feel fit. Unlike some people, I don't go
around killing infadels to prove that I love my Lord because that
breaks a Commandment. I pray whenever I want about anything I
want. The thing about Christianity is that people need to be
smart to be part of it. That's why I'm surprised that I'm in
it... I'm probably one of the dumbest forumers...

First off, your assumptions are way off. How did you arrive at that conclusion? Are you defending what happened to the CARE (aid) worker? Do you think the kid deserved 85 lashes? I don't.
Why do you label a person in such a bad light for saying so?

Good point. However, all religions have their variations of fundamentalistic followers. Take the right wing christian KKK. They use their beliefs as a form of terror as well. Posting a couple of threads in the same day dealing with Islamic fundamentalism without approaching any other religions seems a bit tilted.

[/QUOTE]
Islam in its regular form is tolerant and peaceful. It is ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISM that is the extreemist sect of Islam that hates the western world.
Although i dont agree that the boy's punishment was right, it was part of his culture and there is little we can do to change it unless all western countries (most likely just the us) turn on anyone with a different religion than themselves.
People should learn about other cultures before making themselves sound like rednecks and stating that thier religion is the one true form. Youre a bigot and an idiot if you believe that only one form of religion can be the best.

First off, this thread isn't about KKK and Christians, there are plenty posts criticizing Christians here and the KKK too. If you are looking for one then use the search.
Now, every other group gets a lot of abuse on this forum, but forum forbid if Islam gets some deserved criticism. I have to ask, are you suggesting that Islam should never be criticized?
Now to answer your other question, when the KKK does something nasty the people who do it get criticized for it and rightly so. I never see the proverbial hand in the air, saying, “Islamic extremists do it too.”
As you are post here, ask yourself, why you are doing this self imposed political correctness silliness.

No, not exactly, lutheranism is a spinoff of catholosism, basicaly catholisism ligh, martin luther was himself catholic, he was a trained catholic but had problems with many catholic practices, protestant isnt a type of religion per se, its more a discription, it describes any form of christianity that is not catholic, because people began to protest certain practices done by the catholic church, indulgences, excomunication, so on and so forth

Ha, it's funny to see how quick you are to protect the criticism of christianity when you've posted three threads about the criticism of Islam. Islamic fundamentalists receive much harsher criticism in recent years that the KKK has gotten since the 1960's. What has been failed to be seen is the obvious bias in religions.

He edited it faster then I could quote it.
A kid is whipped to death over religion and you think it’s funny. enough said.
What Dune never even bothered to read in the article is this part.
---The townspeople where the boy lived were so outraged that they stormed the cemetery when he was scheduled to be buried, and the burial had to be deferred and carried out under guard.---
Even the Iranian town’s people are outraged at what happened to the kid, yet DUNE is still off on his personal tangent.

no, he didn't mean others were missing the point, he meant YOU were missing the point, which, you still obviously are.
other religions get abused sure, but there is a difference between stating your view on a religion in an existing thread on the topic (as the vast majority of those posts are) and starting multiple seemingly anti-islamic threads, then using the "they did it too" defense when challenged.

would you like me to elaborate?
here goes...
ever hear the phrase two wrongs don't make a right? applied to this situation, that means the "they did it too" defense doesn't make anything right or wrong, regardless of which one draws outrage.
and there is a difference between giving your opinion when asked, and starting multiple discusions about how horrible a group is
all that not to say you are anti islamic, because i can't say for sure, (though my first inclination would be you are) all that too say, no, i don't think all criticising of islam is bad, but its all about how your present yourself, which is where the problem starts in this case.

This is good, thanks for participating. Yes there are problems within all religions. Take a look at Clark Kent's picture, the Jesusland one, and then check out this thread.
http://www.tippmann.com/players/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=118968&PN=1&TPN=2 - http://www.tippmann.com/players/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp ?TID=118968&PN=1&TPN=2
Now, I am not offended by Clark’s choice of picture as I feel that all religions should be subject to criticism. But I bet you guys would be all over me on that picture if I took out JesusLand and replaced it with what I suggested in that thread.
So you see;
This whole time I was really speaking about how you guys react to someone like New002, who I might add you perceive as being Anti-Islam, yet you have no problem with someone criticizing JesusLand.
Why is that? It is because you have become used to criticizing Christians, the thing is people are not used to criticizing Islam so they see racism were none exists.

yeah... i'm beggining to wonder if he's yet to notice the link in my sig....
I AM christian, so why on earth would i be more worried about someone criticizing islam then christianity? no, i don't find clarks sig offensive, no, i wouldn't find it offensive if it were islamo land, though i would find it a little stupid considering how few people there are in the US that are islamic. And when criticism of christianity comes up, i'm quite often there to either debate the issue or point out that the whole of christianity shouldn't be blamed for the mistakes of a few of its followers, and i feel i should do the same for the islamic religion, even though i'm not a member of it.

That's why I'm surprised that I'm in
it... I'm probably one of the dumbest forumers...

...nice speach, but Lutheran is actully a spinoff of roman catholic... |
Um, in case you forgot, Catholics and Christians BOTH believe in the same god. . .

yes...and lutheran is actually a form of protestant...not
catholicism...the religion formed by Martin Luther's
movements....remember...99 thesis...nice try to be a jerk there though
munky
|
No, not exactly, lutheranism is a spinoff of catholosism, basicaly
catholisism ligh, martin luther was himself catholic, he was a trained
catholic but had problems with many catholic practices, protestant isnt
a type of religion per se, its more a discription, it describes any
form of christianity that is not catholic, because people began to
protest certain practices done by the catholic church, indulgences,
excomunication, so on and so forth |
there's three main branches of christianity...catholicism, protestantism, and eastern orthodox

Since you apparently were looking for me to make a post in this thread,
then I'll copy and paste what I posted in your other thread that was
almost identical...
"I'm sorry, I haven't been able to keep up as well with the forum as I have in the past.
New002, honestly. I wasn't trying to change the subject, I was merely
pointing out the fact that no religion is perfect--they all have their
extremists.
Now, do all religions get their share of abuse on this forum? I would
say that they do. Christianity sure does, I don't know about the
Russians, but whatever. In any case, there is no one posting a slew of
threads pointing out every recent case of Christian extremism in order
to... I assume make some kind of point?
If you are pro-war, or even anti-Islam, then that is okay if you can
back up your reasoning effectively. However, consistently starting
threads such as these is not a
way to effectively back up your reasoning, and to tell the truth, I'm
not even sure what point you are trying to make. This is the issue, not
that the threads are "politically incorrect."
Now, put down the debate tricks and tell us exactly what you want to say."

It should be ok to criticize all religions on this
forum. This is a very important point, New002 criticized Christians in the past and New002 was not labeled racist.
Interestingly when New002 criticizes Islam, New002 is instantly given the racist label by leftists on this forum.
So why is it that New002 is not able to criticize Islam as
Christianity as any other religion?

Very well said Darur. Politically correct to criticize Christians, yet criticizing Islam is not Politically correct.
The next question is WHY is this the case on this forum and how do we get past it?

Why? because its anti-liberal to come out against a minority. and since the media is for the most part liberal, it gets ingrained.
but i still don't think that matters, i generally ignore political correctness.

islam isn't a race... so i don't see why you would be called racist. prejudist maybe.
as i said before, its all about how you present yourself, its one thing to single out radical islam, and another to point the finger at islam as a whole, its one thing to bring up a single topic, or post thoughts in a pre-existing topic, its another thing to start multiple topics on it.

One isnt to critizize Islam and one IS to stop talking in the third person.

If I knew anything about the Islamic faith other then they dont treat women very kindly I would critize it just as much as I critize Christianity.
It is time for the Ladies to stop being treated second class to the males and the Burkas really do need to come off as well.

Let me rephrase what I said.
Critizing a religion for aspects of it is alright, provided your views
are not just because you dont like the people. For instance one
could say you dont like a certain general aspect of Islam, say the way
they worship (I have no problems with Islamics, for the record, this is
just a random example). You can say you dont like it provided
your points have a reason.
It is NOT alright to say "ZOMGZORZ, ES TEH ISLMAM!!! TEH BOMBZORZ US AND STINK!!! DIE!111ONEO11
You see the difference?
EDIT : See Hades example of critizing a religion politely, I just pulled the first thing off my head.

Very true, but the prejudice comments and a few
racists comments came fast and furious. So how do you quote a story of an
Islamic person who for example is in hiding for her life with out getting
called names?
However, I could quote Christian stories all day long and not be
called prejudice on this forum. Heck in the past I as new002 did just that to see if I coulld get any reaction. There was none.
Yet quote the same type of stories and change the religion title and you better dive for cover around here.
