I know that the Tippmann F/A's feed was the predecessor of the cyclone but I was wondering about some things. You had to wind up the feed on the F/A right? Well I was thinking it would be interesting to see if you could do a custom job to put basically a cyclone on an F/A. Maybe there would be definate bugs to work out but I like the procarbine so the F/A is kind of a pursuit as a second gun. Anyway can anyone tell me some drawbacks to the F/A I haven't researched it much. It makes sense why tippmann doesn't do this because they don't produce the F/A andymore and it would cost a lot of money. I would like to see if anyone has heard of somebody who has tried this or if this is a stupid idea and I should be scorned for my moronic ideas?

Drawbacks include timing mostly. And the f/a sears getting stuck.

Well actually the big problem is the air tap used by the cyclone and RT only work on the CVX valve. Since the F/A uses a prolite valve, it wouldnt work at all.

What timing?

The cyclone turns a notch when the cylinder RETRACTS. Its designed to be very very forgiving of "timing".

The gun fires, while the bolt is forward the air burst pushes the cyclone piston forward, when the bolt retracts the air is let off, the spring retracts the piston, and the cyclone rotates a notch. It ALWAYS feeds the ball when the bolt clears, no matter what.

Try it yourself, load a ball, keep the gun uncocked, press the manual feed and let off. The cyclone puts tension on the ball, and as soon as you cock the gun, the ball gets fed.

No no, the Factory F/A timing. Not the Cyclone!

There are two brass pistons on the top of the F/A which work with the dual-sear system. Inside is I think hydrolic fluid, or probably just oil. Either way you have to counter-adjust both of these for proper timing.

And being they don't lock in place they have to be re-adjusted every 2000 shots. According to the manual at least.

Ahh yeah, the shock timing.

I misunderstood.

Its standard oil by the way.

so you probably could do it but there would be many problems to work through, but i think it is entirely possible with the proper stuff. enos, couldnt you put a CVX valve on the F/A somehow? sorry if i sound like a newb but i dont know what the CVX valve is.
