Date Posted: 26 November 2004 at 10:57pm

Well since with a flatline handguard thing and the flat top I am greatly considering going for a m24 sniper rifle look.

The problem is the trigger and the handle thing.

So what I need to know if its possible (how) to move the trigger up to the stock and to entirly remove the handle thing.

(reference for anyone that doesn't know what the http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn11-e.htm - m24

Ok, I am going to ask this again, in hopes that I don't get responses with 2 of the most known sites.

Dose anyone know how or if its possible to reposition trigger or how to compleatly remove the hand holdy thing?

Now first, i know what your going to say, and I don't mean just unscrewing about 3/4th I mean actual removal.

if you wanted to reposition the trigger, you'd have to change the internals as well. the trigger is in the perfect place to trip the sear.

as for removing the grip, you'd have to mill it off. this involves cutting the grip off, sanding/polishing it down to the right size and smoothness, and repainting it. If you're going for a display piece, that's cool, but removing the grip is going to make it hard to shoot the gun. it won't really have a place to hold onto.

Those 2 websites are totally useless to the question hes asking bout and as fer tryin to make a M24 from a 98c...it cant be done, but you can build a paintball shootin M24 from scratch and have tons of money and patience.

Grip: Just mill off the front grip, however I dont know if that would leave hole so..

if there's no hole: sand it, polish it, and paint it.

if there's a hole: TIG weld an aluminum plate in (or get someone else to do it) then sand it, polish it, and paint it.

Also, get a bipod, and combat stock, and a scope for the full effect of a sniper rifle. This would mean getting some sort of sight rail to mount the scope to.

Yah, I already have the bipod and scope figured out, but the thing is I need a stock that I can move the trigger internals into (i really don't know how to make one) and does anyone know if the trigger internals have like long enough wires or whatever to actuly move it over?

Thanks for the help though.

Why do you want to move the trigger internals?

i agree removing the front handle is not a problem what u can do is get a m24 stock if u have the money and incorporate the whole 98 body into the stock of the m24.provided you might have to do alot of dremel work but it will look great.im working on something similar but a m249 saw kit

you can also remove the grip just below the trigger that most likely could hide the rest of the gun in the stock

What you need for your conversion:
M24 Stock
M98 Custom
Drill/Dremel

What you'd need to do:
Basically you'd need to mill both the M24 stock and the M98c. The tuffest part would be relocating the sear/trigger assembly. The easiest thing to do would be to leave the sear assembly. Leave that area of the grip or replicate the internal area of the grip inside the stock. Then relocate the trigger to wherever it needs to be in the stock and link the two with a metal rod. Make it so when the trigger is pulled, the rod trips the sear. The rod would have to push forward on the front of the sear every time the trigger is pulled.
You also do it with pneumatics. he trigger pulls back on a 3-way which actuates a ram which trips the sear.
Or you could do it with electronics. The trigegr pulls back on the microswitch, sending the message to the board to open the solenoid, which would trip the sear. Blah blah blah so on and so on.

^^^ What he said The electronic way would be the hardest personally I think the rod way would be the easyest however your trigger pull would be hard as heck

about milling off the grips...

it's not just the front grip he wants milled off. look at the picture of the M24 again. notice anything else missing? like the pistol grip of the 98C? that would have to go.

I have a question...if you don't have any customization experience or skills, why would you try such a difficult project?

If you have the metalworking, woodworking, pneumatics and mechanical/electrical skills, the job is actually not too bad. The toughest part is the sear, but it's not that bad.

Edited to add:

I'm not trying to put you or your idea down (it's actually a cool idea)...after I posted and re-read this, it sounded like I was.

The hardest part of the customization will be done on paper first, before any wood or metal is cut or milled.

Good luck, and post some pics if/when you get it done.

yea, dude, without any heavy modification to the internals, trigger, and grip, its basicly impossible, unless your good at changing everything inside of the gun.

your better off by just getting a stock similar to that and holding it like you would if their was no pistol grip, kinda like thompson was designed (you could hold it like a rifle or a sub machine gun because of the way the stock was designed)

Good luck
