Stock 98c > Stock A-5.

The 98c will cost more to use effectively seeing as you need to buy an electronic hopper, plus if you want to buy the E-Bolt it will cost like twice as much as the E-grip.

^^^ then why did you say the stock 98c is better than the stock a5?

anyways A-5 all the way, when it comes to christmas get a good barrel and e-grip if you are not planning on getting a x-chamber, 2x trigger or hpa

if it moves it becomes a target.

I like the 98c more they the a5, it all personal preferance. To me buying a new hopper and not having a huge ugly 'cyclone feed system' on the side on my gun is worth it.

ive held both and love the 98c compared to the A-5. i bought the 98c over it too. its a great gun with many many upgrades that you can get for it. i would say get the 98c with flatline. then for christmas ask for :

expansion chamber

new hopper

E-Bolt or R/T

then double trigger. that gun would be great for paintball. awesome gun the 98c is. i would say try both out at a  field or try a friends gun. then see what you like better. good luck on your decision.

No, with the exception of the expansion chamber, there is nothing usefull on that marker. The barrel is too long, and the drop forward is not very usefull on a woodsball marker, which the 98 is best for.

The expansion chamber is the first most important mod you want, if you stick with CO2. It has large chambers in the path of the gas, that gives the CO2 opportunity to expand into gas, keeping the liquid out of the marker.
Which results in much more consistent shooting.

The A-5 costs the same as a M98 with a good hopper.

Hoppers??   there are three kinds.
Gravity Balls just fall into the feed tube.
Stirring... Paddles keep the balls from getting caught up, still gravity fed. (Revvy, or Reloader)
Force fed. The balls are shoved down the feed tube. (Halo B, Reloader B, or Egg)

The A-5 comes with one of the best force fed hoppers made built in.

The Flat line for the A-5 is easier to set up, looks better, and lasts longer than the 98 version.

So, if what you want is a fast shooting flatline, go for the A-5

A-5... Guys why are you saying better upgrades.... Okay maybe the E-grip is better and the Flatline is too but most of the other upgrades are the same. Yes the A-5 is a better gun, and it also does have more Milsim ups if thats what your saying.

Hey, what kind of paintball do you play (woods vs. Speedball)?   How often have you played?   Where do you play?   How many PB Parks are near you that you may play?   What type of fields do they have?   Do you like to shoot alot and fast?   Do you move alot?   How big are you?

Answer all those and give us an idea of how to equip you.

I own an A-5, With the cyclone you dont need to buy an 80 or so doller electro hopper when you get the R/T or E-Bolt for the 98c.

Egrip is cheaper than the E-bolt, so in the long run you will be saving money if you spend more now.

Also allot of people have a hard time getting the flatline lined up correctly on the 98. With an A-5 you just turn it until it dont turn no more and the barrel is set in. So you will have less headaches when you clean your gun.

The Flatline does curve balls if you lay the marker on its side.   This can actually be used as an advantage to curve balls around a bunker to score an elimination.   I wouldn't call it crazy.   Once you get used to it, the flight of the ball is VERY predictable.

Of the 2 markers, IMO the Flatline works better on the M98.   However, the A-5 FL is shorter and still works well.

My personal option would be the M98C... the main reason is the hopper on the A-5.   I like options, if you have an A-5, your hopper options are VERY limited.   The M98 can accept whichever hopper you prefer.   I also don't like the Cyclone system as I am a sight down the marker shooter.

I am also not a big fan of remote lines.   They get hung up on too many things and you can get tangled up when switching hands.   A tank is useful for stabilization as well, if you use a remote line, you will probably add a stock anyway.   You are big enough to handle the extra weight of a tank on the marker.

My suggestion for you is a M98C with a FL, Vertical Adaptor, Palmer's Stabilizer Reg. and double trigger.   The reason I suggest the Palmer's unit is because it works fantastic with C02 and acts as an expansion chamber allowing you more shots in rapid succession without freezing your internals.   On top of that, if you switch to HPA/Nitro, it is a great regulator and you won't need to buy an extra one.

That will be a great start for you to build on.   Future upgrades would include a Nitro/HPA tank, firepower upgrade (R/T or E-Bolt) and maybe a non-FL barrel.

I'm gonna say 98C. Sure, the Cyclone is cool, and the potential with the E-grip is a big factor, but I prefer the 98C.

The 98C's Flatline looks MUCH better than the A-5's. Unless you're shooting full auto, you don't need a force fed hopper. a 98C with an agitated hopper (Revvy or Ricochet) will work just fine.
