I've been listening to so much of their stuff recently... It doesn't matter that they speak German, their stuff still kicks alot of ass. Try downloading these songs... Engel, Du Hast, Sonne, Mutter, and Ich Will.

Those words should not be used in the same sentence. Ever.
Some actual metal bands (not that poser **edited** like disturbed or
ill
nino) would be Dead to Fall, Shadows Fall, Stampin Ground, Meshuggah,
The Diesel Machine, and Mindgrinder. If you've listened to any of
these bands before then you know its not what you're looking for, try
hard rock instead.
Also, Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold (and similarly sounding bands) would fit the Hardcore genre a lot better than Metal.

some of you guys have a strange idea of what metal is. as far as old school stuff, I like judas priest, iron maiden, testament, etc. If you like prog/power metal, try out symphony x, yngwie malmsteen, adagio, rhapsody... There's a website dedicated to prog/power metal and they have a streaming radio so you can listen to random stuff. http://beyondearcandy.com/playing.html - beyond ear candy try that.

I have no idea on how to "classify" music i just go by what friends tell me lol i can only classify pop, rap, and country rock and metal are dificult for me to tell the diference most of the time and superxero ill check those out dif language doesnt bother me i dont pay to much attention to the lyrics im more into the base id guess you call it? or just plain music lyrics are good but arent as important
And while were on the topic what would slipknot and korn be classified as? dark metal classic metal what?

No, the bad words are fine. The fact that those words are surrounded by horrible lyrics and music is the problem.

Lost prophets and Story of the Year dont count as Metal........... anyway heres a good list of metal bands. Atreyu, Killswitch Engage(Highly recommend this one), It Dies Today, Shadows Falls, and Breakin Benjamin
*EDIT*-Some good not so heavy Metal bands are things like Drowning Pool, Dizturbed, and Godsmack if your more into things a little softer than things like Slipknot or the ones I named above

HAHAHAHAHA I didn't notice that... Story of the year... I saw them when they opened for Linkin Park last January in Toronto... That was the best night ever... Storyoftheyear, then hoobastank (this whas when no one knew who they were, proving my theory that, as long as a goup has a video that plays on much music or mtv more than once they are famous) then P.O.D. where a kid got crushed in the moshpit and they had to stop playing and turn on the lights to get him out. Then finally linkin park, fun stuff....
Anyways... storyoftheyear, not metal... The lead singer said the f word every 3 seconds when he was talking to the crowd tho (me and my friends had jsut seen a father taking his son and 3 friends in who were all about 10-11 years old) at an all ages show. Anyways... not metal... sorry I got a little off topic there.

Rob Zombie is respected in the Metal world. I dont listen to alot of the softer, more pop bands mentioned. The more hardcore ones mentioned are great!I am proud that some of you listen to such bands. I have posted my Uber long metal band playlist a bunch of times. If you would like further metal advise, send me a PM.
One of these days I will when PBC is up, I will ask Enos if I can host a metal station on his webradio. I finally bought a mic and I have more time now that my semster is over. Also I am getting a ton of new music and bands in the next few weeks.

Umm... you used the words "Korn" and "good" in the same sentence...
Try these:
Heavier Metal:
-Unearth
-Lamb of God
-Pantera (Cowboys From Hell, Cemetary Gates, Walk, I'm Broken)
Progressive Metal:
-Dream Theater (The Glass Prison, As I Am, In the Name of God)
-Symphony X (Sea of Lies)
Cowboys From Hell, The Glass Prison, and Sea of Lies are MUST downloads...
listen to Glass Prison first.

No tard, I dont even listen to the radio. If you knew anything, a band that has screaming in it, if you go to a major music store(Wal*mart doesnt count) they have it classified as Metal. If you read up on bands or watch shows like Uranium, they say what the band is classified as. Just cause you dont like a bnd, dont say they suck. There the ones with record deals, not you. Everyone has a different taste in music, some softer metal, some harder metal. Dont judge them based on the music they listen too. I bet $20 there people who listen to Linkin Park that could kick your *** anyday, and your basically saying if you dont listen to Hardcore Metal your a P****

based on the music they listen too. I bet $20 there people who listen
to Linkin Park that could kick your *** anyday, and your basically
saying if you dont listen to Hardcore Metal your a P**** |
Uranium interviewed Mudvayne, a band without talent and a band that is
painful to listen to. The host of that show knows **edited** about
metal. Watching Fuse is about like watching MTV, why would you do
it? If all your music knowledge comes from some show on TV then
this all makes sesne. I could care less who could kick my ass,
that means absolutely nothing. I have never heard Godsmack
scream, Disturbed screaming sounds like a high-pitched yelp.
Howevever I must agree, I was listening to a rock band called Strata
and at the end of their song the lead singer screamed something...they
must be metal.
Yeah right.
According to your definition, all of the Emo bands must be metal.
Anyone with their head screwed on halfway straight knows this cannot
be possible.
