Do you think this would work?

I have a camo jumpsuit that I play woodsball in and I am trying to make it more camo. Like a ghille suit kinda...If I got like old camo pants and shirts and stuff and cut strips of them(enough to go on the whole suit) and supper glued them to the jumpsuit kinda like leaves and stuff do you think that would make it more camo.

I want to make it more in with the surroundings.  All it is a big field...trees, leaves, limbs, etc.

Would this be a good Idea, or a waste of time. Also do you have any better ideas for me?

If you're looking for better camo/a ghille suit - DO YOUR HOMEWORK! There are more forms of camo than most people think. Instructions for building your own ghillie suit, blending camo patterns, and properly using camoflauge can be found online. Just dig a little. What's your style of play?

I give it about 30 seonds until some idiot gets here and yells something like "ghille suts r worthless u cant be a sniper"

Dont the glue the strips to yer current camo outfit, they will jus break off when you move....sew them on.

I wouldn't even put them directly on the suit. If I HAD to go ghillie, I'd make one like most people, using netting with strips and stuff tied, or sewn in the netting, that way you can shed the ghillie when you don't want it.

I think if you can hide well enought, you dont need a ghille suit.  they are worth if thats your style of play, but if you are mobile, some people can hide better wearing jeans and a white t-shirt than some people can with camo.  when i play woodsball, i play in army stoch bdu's and its easy to stay hidden

Don't glue, tie. One of the most important aspects of a good ghille is its versatility. Unless you like wookie suits, you need to vary what you put into the suit, and change it often. Using natural vegitation from the playing field is a must if you want to be as effective as possible.

Look at http://www.bushrag.com - www.bushrag.com   You might be able to get ideas from there. I know they use alot of velcro and ties.

i've made a ghillie suit and found it very useful in hiding stationary and taking limited shots when paintballing. but the ghillie suit is useless if the other guy has seen you already. so just because you have a ghillie suit doesnt mean you're invisible. in the marines we use different ways to make it, but heres one way in a nutshell:

get volleyball netting, cut it to the size of the jumpsuit, sew the netting on. then buy camo burlap from wal mart. cut that into strips and pull out single strands about 12-16 in long, and then tie that onto the netting you've sewed onto the jump suit. it will take a very very long time and its very tedious. i do not suggest if you dont have a lot of time/ lazy etc. gl though.

heres a link to a more detailed way of making it.

there are also ghillie kits that u can get for $15 online (opsgear has em) and come with enough burlap and netting to cover you from head to shoulders but u could also use it on yur jumpsuit by cutting the netting however u want and either sewing it on or rubber cement it on

I sware I told someone ealse this same thing just a few days ago. Either buy bush patches of make your own. They are easy to make. Just buy some elastic and eith shoo goo or amazing goop. The strongest and most duable glues I've ever seen. glue 1 inch long peices of the elastic to your sute. Spred them out and put them at different angles. Now you can eisily just slide vegitation into your sute. It works just as good as a ghillie without spending anywhere near the money (about 100+ to make your own).

Wit that much glue on the suit, no one would need to see him, they can jus smell him to find his exact location.

but you can hide and move unseen. Especially if no one has thermal lenses and its hard tosee because of fogging up.

My ghillie suit works pretty well just make sure u have a camoflauged mask cut the strips in leaf like patterns and use the mossy oak shirts or pants if possible otherwise BDU's work ok netting is if ur camping and not planning on moving cause the netting gets caught on trees and plants so ezily and dont get upset sometimes if parts of ur patterns on the ghillie suit tear it just makes it look more realistic.

if you have any more questions PM me

Wash the sute after glueing and it diminishes the smell. Or after you are done glueing just wear it arround out side a bit, actually use it. That takes the smell out too. This stuff isn't that strong after it dries. You don't really notice the smell unless your in a closed space. Trust me, I use it all the time for this type of stuff.

Well to tell you guys the truth, I recently played a game of woodsball ball in October and there was a guy there who was on our team and he used a ghillie suit (he was pretty good in using it), he only lasted 10 minutes in the game when someone on the other team spotted him when he had to relocate to another position....after he got taken out, I was the soul survivor from a team of 15 and I had the task of going against the remaining 10 from the other team....next thing I knew I was totally surrounded, but I took a couple of them buggers wit me, before it was turn to walk off....

^^Ya, I hear that a lot. I use a ghillie sometimes but for the most part I use bushpatches and stuff like that (incase you didn't clue on from my post). But for the most part ghillies seem to work pretty good. The 12 or so times I've used them I last a good while. At least second to last out and its normaly because I moved at a bad time.

Let me revise what I said above though. Learn to hide with only your cammo bdu's before you try and use a ghillie or even bush patches. Most the guys I've seen getting nailed withing the first few minutes of a game that had Ghillies on never bothered to learn the basics of hiding without it. They just figured they could put the suite on and be able to sit in the middle of a trail and be invisible. "Hmm... Thats the funniest, and furriest looking log I've ever seen" A ghillie is only good if ya know how to use one. The same goes with any form of cammo, 3d and 2d.

yes, but it's a lot better to make one yourself because you'll learn more about using it by making it, figuring out how well it blends into where you will play instead of purchasing a premade one that might not work with the environment you will be playing in. it may take a really long time to make, but you'll be proud to wear it. and plus, its kinda like newbies buying autocockers w/high ROF and not knowing what they are getting into (no offense intended at all) but i hope you guys know what im talkin about. and just like plasoccri said, you can't just lay down and assume you blend in.. you have to use vegitation and your surroundings. ghillie suits arent meant to be run around in a lot, they're just meant to camoflauge you really well, break up the pattern of your body. if you've made a ghillie suit correctly you will look somewhat like a swamp monster and chewbaca.

so when using a ghillie suit, remember:

1. hide in areas where it matches the suit (should be a no brainer)

2. use vegitation and incorporate that into the suit

3. dont move around much, while stationary you blend in much better with your surroundings. rocks and logs don't move on their own.

4. ghillie suits are pretty heavy, so avoid running if you can since its harder to run, and plus.. you'll most likely get shot out.

5. and finally, don't think you are invisible with the suit on... try and find a good spot that is defensive and can hide you well since moving makes you stand out.. thus leading to trouble.

well i hope that helped people interested in making a ghillie suit. and one key thing is ghillie suits dont make you a sniper. (i am neutral on the idea of snipers in paintball. i dont recommend talking about it in the forum.)
