hello all the nice ppl out there in tippmann forum land i ahve a good question... the CMI 21" barrel may be my upgrade of choice for my A-currently i have the 14" sniper from tippmann and it works fine just not up to the ranges i need im turning my a-5 into somewhat of a Dragunov sniper rifle AND YES IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE A SNIPER(i am)
is the CMI barrel ne good or should i go with another barrel(no flatlines plz to pricey and to much of a hassel) and speed ball players this is not for a speed ball gun its clearly woods with that big a barrel
but i would be interested in all information thx

Using a 21" barrel will not give you the distance, it will perform jus like any other 14" barrel, but it will use alot more air jus to push the ball out of the barrel and from what the others are sayin in the forum has been sayin bout that fugly 21" barrel (not only jus CMI), you will experience alot of breaks.

I suggest stayin w/ a 14 in or switching to a 16 in of almost anything other than the tippmann barrels unless it is a flatline

Yes, with 21" barrels you will experiene a lot of breaks. I do not have a CMI 21" but I do have 21", and I would think they would be the same. They are some what acurate clean, but dirty, you dont have a chance at hitting anything. I made a mistake buying my 21".
And yes, I believe in snipers, but there's no need for anyone to try to argue about them in this post. Find one already made!

as u already read, the 21 inch sucks. it dosnt get u any more distance, and it wastes more air.
a suggestion is a 14" Progressive or Teardrop.
and if u want, go for a All American(also 14")

But the All American is more accurate and a little bit more quiet, so go with that. http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/detail.aspx?ID=508 - http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/detail.aspx?ID=508 . this is the best deal you will find no matter what kind of barrel yur looking for. the only reason it is so inexpensive compared to the ones you see today is because its an older model (2001). review and personal experiences say that the older model is morfe accurate than newer model, same sound though.(It's one of the quietest barrel in paintball)

Flatline, i don't like it. Just get a 14" barrel. If you
want a flatline, for the price look at a St!ffi carbon fiber
barrel. Extremely quiet, accurate, and cleans its breaks.

i think ill take that deal with the all american and snipers do exist your just called a scout or a sharpshooter most of the time and your job implements(in my squad at least) getting the flag with out being seen and as little shots fired as possible
but thx for your help with the barrel question

beacuse were not using real bullets, most of the balls go the same distance and a longer barrel doesnt make a difference, so you cant actually SNIPE

^ you must not understand the definition of a "sniper". distance doesnt have anything to do with it and niether does the fact that yur using paintballs instead of bullets. a sniper is a person who remains unnoticed by anyone else on the field and shoots out valuable players on the enemy side of the field. usually the flank to the enemy side. its just someone you uses stealth to there advantage. of course, this is only for woods and scenario though. theres no way in hell that a sniper could exist in speedball.

The people i play with say me and some other people, that have flatline, are snipers. They try to divide the flatlines evenly. It is fine they call me that but i no they are wrong because i'm one of the aggressive ones that get close to the enemy.

Snipers really don't exist in Paintball for the simple reason that Paintball isn't combat. In real combat, the sniper's task is to eliminate valuable men (officers) and valuable equipment. In paintball, rarely is there any command structure and there is never any equipment beyond personal markers. And besides, due to the time and field restrictions of paintball, a real military sniper would never be able to set up to his liking (not to mention he wouldn't have any accuracy at distance . . .)
I'm not saying you can't use stealth and be a good shot, but using them doesn't make you a sniper, it makes you a good paintball player. Just like having a big, fast shooting marker doesn't make you a machine gunner. Paintball to combat is like apples to oranges.

^ yeah!!! and about the snipers in paintball... they do take out the valuable players, and when yur playing scenario games, they give you special missions and sometimes you may be assigned the role of a sniper.
