so my buddy plays paintball right, but we got into a argument if paintball is realy a sport. what makes sports a sport? i dont wnat you just to say it is i want cold hard facts thanks

I believe it is because it falls under all of the definitions of a team sport, but you all have the right to make your own decisions...

An activity? It's all a matter of opinion. Some argue that track, for example, is not a sport because all you do is run in a circle. I have even heard the claim (in a George Carlin routine, I think) that there are only three sports: baseball, football and basketball. But, by the dictionary definition, a sport is "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature." So by that definition, in my opinion, paintball is a sport.

It depends on how you look at it. If you play speedball, you're going to most likely see it as a sport. If you play woods/rec/scenario, you'll likely see it as just a pastime. I, personally, like both. I see tourney as a sport, when you're competing in a circuit, but when I'm just out in the woods, caring less about the outcome of the game than I do about the enjoyment I get from the game itself, that's just a pastime.

1.) Bowling is not an olympic sport.

2.) What do you mean by "Ice Skating"? Hockey? Figure Skating? Speed Skating? All of thoes take ungodly amounts of athletic ability and skill.

my pe teacher said it wasnt a sport and i argued with him telling him you run and get a workout so why isnt it and said things i probably shouldnt have and ended up getting a refural

Don't almost all sports have atleast one ball in it. PaintBALL is probably a sport just like footBALL and basketBALL.

exactly.....i was watching the world cup the other day and i thought to my self, if this was the first time me seeing anything to do with paintball, i would say its stupid and would never want to play it. the pros make it look like a whimpy sport.

As much as I'd like to think of it as a sport, it really is a hobby.

In all activities considered sports by many people, the actions taken to gain points are done purely under human power. Because of this, we canot consider paintball a sport because even though you're running, eliminating an opponent requires the assistance of a marker to get a paintball up to speed.

You might say XBall still falls under the catagory of sport because technically you don't even need to shoot to grab a flag and throw it against a designated square of safety net. But we all know that points in XBall games are rarely earned that way so in my opinion, it is not a sport.
