A mask definatly and you can wear knee pads but thats your perference. I wear gloves cause gettin hit in the bare hand hurts. If you play woods try to wear camo or dark colors like greens and blacks.

it all depends on ur tollerance for pain... when i play i usualy wear a
tshirt a hoodie n jeans n im fine.. but i know kids who were like 5
tishirts a jacket sweaters n liek 5 pairs aof paints.. but u deffinelty
need a mask and a cup if u want so get hit once if u think it hurts to
much to wanna keep playin throw on more cloths.. i dont think
chest protectors and "armor" is nesacary

I dunno if its just the field i play at but it seems the 12 year old kids with the high end guns are the ones with 4974259732 layers of clothing on. but yeah besides a mask its all preference.

A mask is essential and covering up any bare skin is a must I wear military fatigues top bottom and a pair of redwings with my paintball gloves and a mask. I just where a t-shirt under the camo. It also depends at what psi you play with. Try and ask your dad if you can play without for like a round then see if you can borrow or rent one for a round. Then you'll have a good idea of which you would like. I tried a chest protector and didn't like it. It felt kind of bulky.

Well my dad made me get a chest protector before I could play paintball and I was 15 at the time and I said well I think it is pointless and he said well you can't play so I was like well I guess I will get one and he bought it for me but I don't really like to wear it. Its to bulky. It only helped me once when I was wearing it a little kid came up to me and he was messing with his brothers imagine and it was on the fully auto setting and he walked up put the barrel like an inch away from my stomache and shot alot of balls at me. I didn't have any brusises but the kids brother sure did. Well when ever I wear it I never get shot in the chest but when I dont wear it I get shot in the chest.
One thing I would recomend is a neck protector. If you have ever been shot in the neck it doesnt feel good at all. Its painfull and if you get hit in the adams apple that could be your last paintball game

Chest protectors are definately not necessary at all. Just another way for the company to make money. Anyway you should wear a mask and heavier jacket with a sweatshirt or something underneath. And for pants shorts then jeans then a pair or camoflage pants or something. Try to dress as baggy as possible but not so much that it will get in the way. The bagginess will lessen the impact of the ball on your body.

Remember this too, if yer into speedball....any form of padding on the human body is not allowed to be used and that includes the "chest protector", the ones that are allowed is the mask, gloves and speedball pants wit built knee pads.

I prefer my skin to a chest protector. I don't know what it is, but at a 40 feet range I had my shirt off (showing off in high school quite a few yers ago) and I received three blasts to the chest. None of them broke. I've been hit in the hand without gloves, on top of the head at 5 feet (moron), and just about everywhere else except the groin. I've never used a cup, and never leave that exposed. Once I refused to surrender and a guy tried to hit me there, but missed horribly. I'll stand up during a salvo of balls if I get hit- I don't waste time hiding again hoping the 5 people stop shooting within the next minute. Some morons keep shooting, but they usually stop when I so very casually reach in my pocket for my barrel plug. Of course, I have nailed some bonus ballers that tried shooting a few more off at my fiance thinking she doesn't know any better. They get a profanity followed by an insult to their intelligence, and even a few have continued to shoot after she screams so the five surrounding fields hear the "F" word, and I've blasted two fellows pulling this stunt (I was already out). Only one of them tried getting smart, whereas everyone (his team and the ref) cut him short.

you have to wear a mask. I wear jeans a hoody and a mask and a pair of gloves just to keep the ball sof my bare skin. we know that hand shots hurt... alot! you dont want to be playing with to much clothes on or you wont be able to move and you will be sweating liek crazy. I prefer to take the small amount of pain and be a comfortable temperature

earlier this night i was re-tapping my valve threads and dry firing my gun when i was finished. my uncles friend was there and wanted to see how much a paintball hurt. 8 feet away, in the gut. big purple mark. anyway moral of the story, unless your playing paintball in your garage, youll be fine. you usualy dont feel hits when into the game so they are unessesary.

I just wear a mask. I sometimes wear knee pads if I am going to slide in tree roots. I wear gloves if that counts as protection, knuckle shots suck.

Well, Nicky Cuba wears a chest protector, but that was only after he got bunkered by a hot marker at point blank...i dont blame him.
I personally think they're way to bulky and uncomfortable and its IMPOSSIBLE to do a superman into a snake with one...dont ask...its kinda one of those embarrasing noob stories.
If you feel like you need it though go for it. No ones stoppin ya but you're gunna get **edited** if you really suck and people find out you're wearing one, trust me on this, one o me friends bought one and brought it speedballing once and he got a lot of crap...a lot...

Dude if you really want protection for your chest just go buy a paintball vest! They look awsome & have tons of pockets to hold stuff, pod holders, tank holders, water pouch, food storage and best of all the protect your chest! They run around $90! And there really comfy too! LOL
I only use mind every once and a while- once every 2 & 3 months!
Because i don't use mind for armore, every couple months i go to this huge 400 aker piece of property to play the biggest woods ball games ever! And i don't have time to run back and get water and food or another tank, paint ect..... So it's the best storage thing for paint ball!

Ok... Chest Protectors are only good if you are going to play against someone with full-auto. 1 Paintball feels like a slap when you get hit. 10+ feels like a constant pain. Especially at close range. DOnt bother buying one... Just wear tons of layers and MAKE SURE TO WEAR thermal layers... They help alot!!

Oh... Hey... Get a BMX catalogue and inside most of them, you can find something called EVS Ballistic Jersey. It is a light jersey with some hard plastic on the chest. It looks cool and I'm thinking of buying one for defense from close range idiots at high velocities!!

When I play with my friends I don't use one (we chrono always before playing speed=<280), but if we go play with some one else I do, I have chrono people at above 320. Sadly fields here in Mexico don't have chronos, they adjust the speed by ear.
