i dont want to start my scenario "career" with a long event like that. i guess a short one will be good experiance for me. 26 hours is a long time, but that really sounds like fun.

The team that I play on will be there. That is about 40+ players, if everyone shows.(Team P.P.O.N.T.I. = Paintball Players Of No Tactical Importance)
See you there
------------- Take the challenge, try to make 200 paintballs last for 8 or more hours(other than not shooting).

does anyone know what fields its going to be played on? and what side holds the city?

German side holds the city, if this is after they captured it from
Russia. The biggest part was when Russia re-claimed it. It would make
more sence to make it when Germans hold the city.

are the teams going to be split evenly? i dont want to be one of 150 germans vs 600 russians, i dont care about historical accuracy, but thats just not fair. i havent found a single person on here, pbnation, or anywhere (about 100 total) thats going to be a german.

after how poorly they ran d-day i will never go back there, over priced, poor reffing, dont care about safety only making money, dont waste ur time at skirmish.

I think that the Russians will be holding the city. Paintballdude23 is right, it would make more sense to do it after the Germans took it, but I think I remember hearing somewhere that the Russians would be on the defensive. But maybe my memory is just bad.
When it comes to making money, Skirmish has their stuff together. Beyond that all bets are off. However, I continue to go because I always manage to have an AWSOME time. But it would be really nice if the would get the reffing under control. The problem is that there are just too many people to watch when the feilds are so HUGE. it would take aprox 600 refs to adequately ref a D-Day game. They could definately afford it, but they choose not to.
Thinking about it makes me mad. I'm gonna write Chuck Stoner am email right now.

I just got one of those flyers in the mail from Skirmish. It says "Siege of Stalingrad: 2 Castles + 3 Vilages, 8hrs of Play, Missions every 15 mins, Lighted fields, Props, Raffle, Costume prizes."
So, it's gonna be played on the same fields as the Castle Keep games, which is what I expected/AWSOME. One of those 2 castles is the Tippmann Castle which is FREAKIN HUGE!
The villages are sweet too.
I hope I can win something from the costume prizes.
Oh, and there's something else...
"Just let me say this, the past weekend was the most enjoyable scenario game I've ever been to! The game play was outstanding, the refs were good beyond all previous games and the set up was the BEST! Don't stop the progress on being the best field in the nation! ROCK ON!"
~ Tom B., Operations Officer, Team American Anthem
That's also on the Stalingrad flyer. I don't know what game it's in refference to, but it gives me hope. They are getting better.
Oh, and the "Missions every 15mins" sounds like a big improvement aswell.

i just called Skirmish with a few questions. she said so far there were 19 russians, and i think 16 germans registered. but theres a lot that reserved a spot. i asked if the teams were split up fairly, and she said theres so many russians and not many germans and they cant tell if they will be fair yet. so which side will be attacking the castle?
so im pretty sure im going to be a german since theres a shortness of them, and i enjoy a challenge. "Got to bring the Russian Bear to his knees!"

No, see the Germans killed civilians (Jews, Slavs, Russians, Handicapped, Homosexuals, etc.) The Russians just killed soldiers that tried to retreat (cowards) and traitors to the state (Cossacks). I mean, it wasn't their finest hour, but still...
And to answer your question, the Russians were protecting their homeland after the Hitler and the Germans invaded. Without the eastern front and a victory at Stalingrad, its quite possible the Germans would have won the war. Since I come from Russian heritage, I feel its only right that I play as a Russian.
Plus, its just a game

i cant wait. were going to be very out numbered, but a challenge is more fun than easing through it. a good idea for you ruskies, is to execute your cheaters! ha ha. good luck guys, just remember to have fun, and safety first.

I couldn't have said it better! Its not only a good way to get rid of unsportsmanlike players, but it also follows history pretty closely... lol

yeah, iv done a few Russian WWII and 1 and German WWII reenactments, and in the Russian ones, they "execute" Russians with other equipment, or any one doing something againt "war law". its pretty cool, they guy yells what the soldier has done wrong, points a pistol to his head (at a distance) and fires a blank. then he falls over like hes dead. you guys shoud do the same (with no paint ofcoarse). we also do full charges and everything. very fun.

they should show enemy at the gate(best ww2 movie ever) before the game so people get some ideas and see what it was like to be a russian.

While I don't think it would be concivible to show it to everyone there, everyone should watch it on the night before (especially those on the Russian side.) And if you're playing with the russians, be sure to watch the first scene to learn why running away may not be the best thing to do...
Also, if anyone is really interested in the battle of Stalingrad, without any Hollywood 'interpretation', read Geoffrey Roberts' book Victory at Stalingrad. It may be a little dry for some people, but it really explains how important this battle was for the future of our world.
As a side note, I was thinking about bringing a little boombox or something and blaring out the Soviet National Anthem from our base. Any thoughts on this??

How much money do you spend at one of these scenario's?? I can only imagine that it would be high for paint and what not. Also how will the scenario work? One giant force vs. another (ex. you have raids, capture missions, etc.) or will it just be like a rec game except with a lot more people?? Just wondering.

its $35 admission, $72 a case, $5 for 7 fills, and probaly $15 for food. they screw you on paint. http://www.skirmish.com/scenario.html - http://www.skirmish.com/scenario.html the rules are near the top. its basicaly a simple idea of a real battle. give or take a few details.

Hi Everyone. Let me try and clear a few things up for Stalingrad.
First off all air fills are free. As for how much money you should expect to spend that's a tough question. I feel it really comes down to how much paint you shot and if you decide to rent things like camo or buy food there.
The teams are split up as evenly as possible. Sure one side may have more than another by a few players but overall it should be fairly close. We try our best to keep them even during registration. I personally am looking forward to Stalingrad. It always gets me pyched for summer and playing a lot of paintball. Especially if the weather is like it is now. This has been an awesome winter to paintball. There isn't even snow on the ground here in the Poconos.
I'm sorry if I missed any questions. If anyone has more questions just post them and I'll try and answer them or send us an email at info@skirmish.com.
