I live in the DC metro area. And frankly these spanish people are taking over, all these bloody ileagle imagrants waiting for a truck to pick them up in the morning. I see them every day sittin there like the cops wont pick them up again for the 5th time this week. And now, aside from them not speaking OUR national language at the McDonalds or the Wendys, one of my favorite radio stations was terminated. WHFS 99.1 was killed. All the people that ever worked there were fired. DJs and all. Now its some stupid spanish radio station. They threw away all the english speaking hardworking disc jockies so some stupid spanish hick can listen to some fool in the morning going "TACO TACO TACO TACO" Sorry for the rant, but some thing just PISS ME OFF. ------------- http://www.last.fm/user/DBibeau855/?chartstyle=myspacecolors">

I just have to say, you are an un-educated idiot. Sorry, but you really need to learn how to tolerate other cultures without making broad generalizations of their language and race. What's your heritage? How did they get into the states? Who was there before them?

I think someone has to start out some where, and if that means coming to a country better than their own, then so be it. But I also believe that if you go to a country, you should learn to speak their language. I do have to say I don't having to learn three different languages just so I can get gorceries. When the Nike Jordans first came out, they were so contriversal (against the uniform policy of the NBA, but he wore them anyway, facing a big fine, creating a big media buzz) Anyway, they were over $100, which was pretty much unheard of, and people were literally killing other people for their shoes. |

Yeah, some kid at my old school got the snot beat out of him and his shoes were stolen, then the group of kids that stole the shoes were sharing the shoes. They would alternate wearing them. I clean office buildings at night.. and I just started working full eight hour shifts (instead of the five or six I was doing) Not getting enough sleep a couple times a week is fine, but after two weeks of it.. it really wears down on ya. Is it just me, or did noone point out that the USA has no official language. So technically, they aren't taking over. I would rather have Spanish than the French. I don't see how there lives will get any better. They do a crummy job get paid less than minimum wage, which is more than in mexico or whatever, but they still have to live here. No what im saying. Is that in canada they have this thing. Say you are watching a hocky game. The game will be in french. But since not all of Canada speaks french. It will be in english as well. Why don't you go back to where you came from, your ancestors were probably some poor immigrants from Poland or somthing. You just don't want to learn spanish because your lazy. ummmm not really, i had to go with my friend there (from us, accident, i not hurt) And the hospitl is so out of the 50's there is no up to date machines, there is alot alot alot of old sick people there, that they should just pernounce dead. There hospitals are not as clean or up to date as ours. Thats why we still pay. -------------

Hispanic(happy?) people are starting to flood our country. Specialy in my area. What i am really upset about is how all these people at this radio station were fired. They had contracts! And the syndicut just fired them all one day. Half the DJs had no idea till thier shift was up. These guys the sport junkies had no idea. They got done with thier morning show. And they find out they dont have a job. There was a format change. All the people were fired and the jobs went to hispanics. I dont care who the jobs went to. What i do care about is that some of those people worked there for 30 years. Then one day because some hispanics want an FM station. They kill one of the better rock stations in the area. Ok, Here is my two pennies worth. I am a Floridian. You think you have hispanics in your area? Try moving south a little bit. I work at McDonalds, and more than half the shifts I work are ran by hispanics. Not many of them speak alot of english, do I care? No. Why? They are good workers. They have common sense. They learn english slowly and often ask me what words mean, as do I do the same to them in Spanish. Yes, im learning Spanish as they learn English. Now we can communicate where we know what each other is saying. I dont understand whats so hard about trying to learn, and trying to teach in return. If we all did that we would all be better off I think.

First of all, DC is not that big on Hispanics. I live in Ogden, Utah where more than half of the population is hispanic. I don't have a problem with them at all, you bigot, and neither does anyone else here. Seccond, I will you if you can find a harder working people than Mexicans. I was going to say that. I also agree that anybody who wants to work in a job where they speak a lot (such as at a cashier in a fast food restaurant) should learn English, even if it's only rudimentary, unless the place where they work is in a primarily non-English-speaking region. I've heard that Fellsmere, Florida has a LOT of Hispanic people, as does Miami. They should also make a serious attempt at learning the laws.. I ride a bicycle, and there have been far too many close calls with hispanic drivers (also quite a few in cars). Most of them are okay (I have more problems with the elderly), but the situation isn't helped by how absurdly easy it is to get a license here. I also know quite a few hispanic people at my school, and I don't hate anybody, but I'm getting really tired of the far too visible minority of hispanics that ruin property values by allowing their houses to decay far past a reasonable limit (think washing machine in the front yard and chickens being decapitated in the back next to the three pickup truck frames on cinderblocks - description of the house next to my grandfather in what used to be a really nice neighborhood). Sometimes I'm even a little irked at seeing the spanish subtitles on signs and whatnot, even though I've taken three years of Spanish and I can understand them, because it feels like an invasion of space. If you can't figure out what the stick figure symbols for "Men's Restroom" are (weren't they made for non-English-speaking people?), you shouldn't be allowed to be in public. You don't need a sign that says "Men Senores" and has a stick figure of what is obviously a man next to it. If the comprehension is that hard, why don't we just switch to all symbols? Anyway, enough ranting. I've found that personally, most hispanic people are no different from anyone else as far as behavior goes, it's just the ones who are dirty and lazy, as well as those who refuse to attempt to learn English and who want the whole world to change for them... they annoy me terribly. The problem ends up being that they all get labeled that way. ------------- Is God real? You'll find out when you die.

Southern California has quite a number of Hispanics that live here and, for the most part, I have no problems with them. The thing I have an issue with are those that come here and expect, demand on occasion, that we know their language so they can get along in our society. I would no sooner move to France or Germany or Mexico and demand they speak my language. Tourists I can understand and don't have a problem with but if you're going to live here make the effort to learn the language is all I ask. Some areas of Southern California are so heavily populated by Spanish speaking people that all the Billboards are in Spanish. Not one or two...ALL of them. And it isn't English with a Spanish subtitle...it is pure Spanish. You litterly feel like you have left the United States. I also have a problem with that. Cater to the Hispanic population but put the signs in English too huh? That way the Hispanic population you are catering to can see the translation and maybe pick up a couple more English words. I mean, no one is asking them to come live here, they are choosing to do so of their own accord. If that is their choice, they should also choose to learn the language to at least a level where they can get by. Those who try I have the utmost respect for and will bend over backwards to help them. I have no problem with law-abiding hispanics who at least speak english in public. It's the few hispanics who come here just to go on welfare and try to get everyone else to speak spanish that I dislike. When they expect me to learn spanish instead of them learning english, then I get mad. It's not. English is extremely quirky and makes up for the somewhat simpler verb syntax with hordes of exceptions. However, in America enough people speak it that many are convinced it's our national language, and it's so commonplace that it should be fairly easy to pick up. I know that in the Dominican Republic and in Ecuador it was easier to enhance my Spanish when I was surrounded by it than when I was in school. Friends of mine who live in Ecuador or have lived there in the past have encountered the same phenomenon. Being immersed in a culture usually forces you to learn the language or find someone to interpret.. all except America. ------------- Is God real? You'll find out when you die.

And that is a big part of the greatness of the country. This is always the way it has been. There are still parts of the country where you need to speak Dutch, Italian, Chinese, Polish, Norwegian, Navajo, Greek, whatever, to get along. In other countries you are effectively forced to blend. Not here. This is nothing new. Your ancestors managed to cope and thrive despite (or perhaps because of) the multitude of cultures and languages in the country. How can we do any less? |

Thats all fine and dandy, because everyone speaks those languages. My uncle is from a town in new hampshire where all they speak is french. TV, Radio, Newspaper all in french. But the majority here is english. They act like they dont know that or they dont care. Like ile walk into a a burger king and Pedro will say "Hola, que quierres para comer?"
