Is Bush wearing a bullet proof vest now?

**Don't delete it.  This isn't trying to be political.  Just a question**

**Also, they set up S.A.M. sites around D.C.

SAM sites eh? Hopefully we get to use one. And a vest is pointless, any good sniper would go for a headshot.

He's probably wearing a bullet proof vest.  It isn't to protect from snipers, it's to protect from nutcases in crowds.  (John Hinckly style folks.)

I'm guessing no.

I don't think he usually does, and there is even more security here than usual.  The type of attack that a vest would protect against strikes me as very unlikely.

I would say no. He's a bit of a cowboy. (A bit... yeah.) I think he'd skip it and trust his security team.

On the radio one time, Michael Savage was talking about how much it is going to cost to put this innaugural (however it's spelled) on. One of the things he mentioned was a special bullet proof vest to go under his jacket.

You all know hes wearing one and the last thing hes (Bush) probably thinking in his mind is going through what Ronald Reagen went through when John Hinckley Jr. shot him point blank.

You could be right and most sharp shooters dont like discussing the things they had to do to get the job done.

Thats true for a lot of soldiers. My uncle Rocky Chandler was a sniper. Wrote a bunch of books. "Death from Afar" and "Sniper one" Look Sniper One up. Its pretty neat.

I was watching something on the History Channel and they are trying to develop a peice of bullet proof glass that could pop up in front of the President's face if the sound of a gunshot was heard. It would pop up from the podium and allow him to duck. I don't know if its in use yet though..

Like he's going to duck a bullet?  It could work if multiple shots were fired.  And what if the bullet is fired while the crowd is clapping, no way the sound could pick that up.

umm, the "terrorist" would be picked up waaay to easily if they tried to bomb D.C., Boston is right down the street and with the right positioning could take D.C. out with it...(the nuke)

I dont velieve that crap, but whatever floats your boat...

and yes, hes wearing one, its standard procedure and common since after the Regan shooting.

As neither you nor PlentifulBalls are old enough to be in the military, let alone be a military sharp shooter, your point is moot.

If I include myself, that would make at least three ex military sharp shooters on this forum.  So, what's your point?

Police sharpshooters are a brand all their own. I'm not sure how the military does it, considering I assumed they went for center mass shots. Police S.W.A.T. sharpshooters train for headshots.

Just so you guys know, since this seems to be a debate. Yes on all  public engaugements he does wear a vest. His suits are also specially tailored and lined with spectra, ect.... The security measures would blow your mind, and those are just the ones that are'nt classified. Let's just put it this way we have used enough key words just in this thread that red flags are popping at the NSA right now. Your backround is being automatically checked right now. I'm not joking!
