Just got my 2nd Joy Division fly, since I loved my first one so much.  So I guess the dm4 will need to go at some pt., before the girlfriend whines too much

Cool guns. Is there any non-cosmetic difference between the JD Flys and a regular Fly?

Posted By: reticule
Date Posted: 22 January 2005 at 2:07pm
Hybrid-sniper,

Very minimal differences.  The trigger is a JD trigger, instead of a Slayer, and a couple of JD stickers and poster.  The board is the same.  The only fly that is definitely set apart from the regular fly is the Force Fly, which has some extra auto modes, no capped rates of fire, stock MT trigger, and a slightly different valve.

636andy636,

I've already tried a borg, and seen the insides.  What you're suggesting is a downgrade.

Tippy_182,

I honestly can't figure out how a dm4 is better.  I've had this dm4 since September, trying different trigger and setup configurations.  It might be silent, with no recoil, but the Evolve kit for the angel eliminates ALL noticeable recoil.  So in terms of efficiency, speed, recoil, I prefer the angel.

Just to point something out, the Force Fly is different from a stock Fly because:

1. Milling
2. Board
3. Valve
4. Volumizers
5. Warranty
6. Trigger
7. Barrel
8. Annodizing.

That was the original plan, but due to safety reasons they capped all the extra mods at 18 BPS.

Glassjaw,

The stiffi is ok.

Pros:
Light (as in you feel like there isn't a barrel), pretty accurate, cleans
in a few shots

Cons:
Inner bore finish is delicate, must use a (clean) squegee, not a swab

When compared to an UL, I choose the UL.  The Ultralite provides a bit better accuracy (with the paint I use), and the inner finish is more durable.  The Stiffi requires higher maintenance, if it is neglected, you run the risk of poor accuracy and horrible cleaning properties.

Have you had any problems with the tip porting?  SiteMFG Has changed the end porting because they said a swab fibers would get stuck in there, or something like that.  I'm not sure if they adjusted the bore or not also.

I have used a swab on the Stiffi on ocassion and I have noticed my Redz swabs leaving fabric traces on the end of the barrel.  This is due the sharp "finish" of the carbon fiber.  SiteMFG has changed the porting from the cresent moons to simplistic holes (a la Ultralite).  People have had great things to say about it and they may be true.  However, I prefer to disclose my honest opinion, and not hype a product up because it's expensive or exclusive.

Even though the stiffi is light and great looking (IMO), I would not recommend it as there are cheaper and better barrels out there.  My friend has a Stiffi Switch barrrel kit, and the control bores (backs) are only 2 inches long.  He says it's great, but I'm skeptical.

sell the dm4 barrel-less, and keep the matte black barrel for the new joy... it would look real nice. (i dont think they have the same threads though...)

Date Posted: 22 January 2005 at 6:24pm
A-5 Bunkerking,

Agreed.  The matte black UL would be great on the angel, but alas, threading is different.

Pariel, I haven't had the angel go down on me yet, but one day it might.  The DM4 has gone down once, and field maintenance requires time and a clean working area.  The cocker is lent out for those who need it.

Dizzee, too much.

Hey, I need a cocker, can you lend it to me?

And do you do tournaments or are just a serious rec player?

Also what kind of cocker is it? I just can't tell.

Attempts at tournaments, still learning though.

The cocker is a 2k3 Planet Eclipse Factory Team with the following:
E-blade (obviously)
All Nexus internals (bolt, ram, valve, etc)
QEVs
WGP feedneck

Basically the same as a Nexus Directors Cut except a bit heavier and without the samurai trigger.

Let's just say there are a lot of gerbils, a**holes, and cameras involved.  I don't want to be any more descriptive, otherwise I might lose revenue to wannabe competitors.
