hey, just wondering if anyone can tell me how fast a double trigger will fire on a stock 98c, and if there is an extreme noticable difference between this and a standard single trigger. thanks

on a stock 98c, their probably won't be that much of a difference.  Welcome to the Forums!

Of course there will be a difference. No you wont be able to walk it but you'll still have the added leverage.

you would have to do some considerable work to the trigger and sear to make a double trigger noticibly better (faster) on a mechanical 98C as opposed to a single trigger . But,, if you pull the double trigger at the lower portion , mechanical leverage will make it seem much easier to pull .

hey, i appreciate all the quick responses, and i've got another question. i was just cleaning my gun out and i noticed the part for where the double trigger guard goes in, and it looks like i'd have to cut some of the grip off.....is this right or does it drop in so that doesnt have to happen?.....and will the faster trigger pull possibly cause balls breaking?

just one last quick one: you would have to do some considerable work to the trigger and sear to make a double trigger noticibly better (faster) on a mechanical 98C as opposed to a single trigger from shadow minion....i thought the double just dropped into place on the pins?

Yes you would have to cut a little piece.

About the chopping, shooting faster will only chop paint if you outshoot your hopper.

ok 1. outshooting your hopper is when u fire more balls than it can feed. problem sometimes with gravity fed hoppers not electric one's.

2. with a stock single trigger the average is about anywhere from 5 to 8 bps(balls per second) with a drop in double trigger and no mods probobly 6 to 9 bps.

3. The double trigger does just drop in but to have any large increase in your rate of fire you will need to do other modifications and upgrades. ie. Sear mods and adding an RT.

hope this helps

The double trigger is more for comfort then performance. You can fire slightly faster with it. Since you can't walk a mech 98c without a little custom modifications, it is for swiching fingers so you don't get tired when fireing for long periods of time.

Just like mentioned above outshooting your hopper is when you can fire faster than your hopper can load a paintball into the breech. This is a problem when you fire and the ball is only partly loaded, causing the bolt to chop it in half.

G.I. Joe , the double trigger does just drop in , (you might have to trim out a small piece of the grip ,as you noticed ) but it in itself , does nothing to "Lighten" the trigger pull ,or shorten it .

Two of the main things that make a trigger "Faster" are its pull weight ,or trigger pull , and the distance the trigger actually has to travel before it disengages the sear . Modifying these things will make a double trigger more responsive and easier to "Walk".

Walking a trigger is like playing stickman with your index and middle finger , place the tips of these two fingers on a table top , and walk them across it , now take that same motion , and if you have room on your trigger , repeat it as quickly as you can , Thats walking a trigger  , and Almost impossible to do with a stock trigger and unmodified sear set up .

Ideally a trigger would take just a light bump of the finger to make the marker fire , and with an electric/electronic trigger it is very easy to accomplish , problem is Tippmann had an electric kit for the 98C called the E-bolt , Way expensive , and not that much greater than a finely tuned mechanical , AND they quit production of them after about 2 years (?)

"Outshooting" a Hopper means you are cycling the marker faster than the hopper has the ability to feed balls into the marker . with a Gravity hopper (your stock one) the limit is about 8 BPS . with agitated hoppers , like the Empire Revolution (revvy) ,or ReLoader the limit is around 12-13 BPS . Upper end hoppers/loaders , like the HaloB , Qloader (too many names for me to recall them all ) the feed rates approach and exceed 22 BPS up to above 50 .

When you outshoot a hopper , the ball is only partially fed into the breech when the bolt closes , and you make a mess .

Widowmaker is a project under way , to see just how fast a mechanical 98C can be made , I am keeping it strictly mechanical , and doing some extreme mods for speed and performance . I have hit 13BPS with it already(verified over a PMI chrono) , but not reliably , and can do 11 drumming a single trigger . when I am done with it , and it works properly , I will post a Huge thread , detailing everything I did , and how it was done , and why ..

Disbelievers,,, I dont care , NN can hit 20+ with an electro 98, I should be able to come really close to it too .

Yes the double trigger will make you shoot faster. The most you could probaly get is up to 8 bps, which will eventually outshoot your hopper, and no you don't have to cut your grip for the new trigger frame. It curves at the bottom then goes up to fir just right.

You do have to cut a notch in the rubber grip to put in the trigger guard.
