Since I am running dangerously short on fresh music, and since everyone loves to flaunt the fact that they love their favorite band (Hence all the other music threads), I decided I'd try this...

Post a few songs that you're hooked on or whatever right now that you think some of the other forumers might enjoy. I'll start:

"California Demise, pt. 3" by The Olivia Tremor Control - Beatles-ish Psych. Rock

"Autumn Leaves" by Miles Davis - Modal Jazz

"Me and Jesus Don't Talk Anymore" by Beulah - Poppy Blues-Rock

I don't really like their new cd as much as the first two.  But than again, they changed singers.  Anyone know why that happened though?

Of course, you gotta like ska, reggae, ska-core, etc. to like these. but old-school ska (like the skatalites) is like jazz and "poppy-blues rock" as you called it.

I'm in a local band called The Altai District...we used to be called AndManyMore. We've played with Big D And The Kids Table and Streetlight Manifesto in the past.

You can check our old crappy recordings http://www.purevolume.com/andmanymore - here .

We've just finished recording some new stuff however at a much nicer studio and it should be up in a day or 2.

My other band (although not really ska) can also be found http://purevolume.com/ashesfromempires - here .

I play bari sax in The Altai District and alto sax in AshesFromEmpires.

Oh God. I hate that song. But not for any reason other than the fact that I have to do a history project on it.

Billy Joel wrote the lyrics by taking events from his lifetime--internationally significant events, that is--and putting them in mostly correct chronological order. My history class has this lame assignment of rewriting the song lyrics with historically significant events from our lifetime... Meh.

What's it to you? I can pretty much expect for you to be immature and call me a goth or something without knowing anything.

You don't even know how to properly generalize, barely any music listed in this thread is considered "goth".

You "CLASSIC RAWK 4 LYF3" people are all the same. Wearing Converse all-stars, not praticing hygene, talking about how you can play "stairway" better than anyone else, most of all, refusing to accept any music produced after 1985.

Take a deep breath and realize that Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin are not the greatest musicians to grace this earth. Open your damned head and realize that people like what they want to like.

I'm sure it would be easier if we all listened to your crap, I could save myself some bickering, and you wouldn't get to have anymore pissing contests about your taste in music.

Posted By: RedDragon44089
Date Posted: 07 February 2005 at 5:54pm
Actually, I do like a few select newer bands such as Greenday, System of a Down, and a few others, but that is beside the point. I'm saying that that other crap is simply that. Crap. Have you bothered to listen to half the crap they put on the radio these days? I can't even stand it. Most of it just seems to me, anyways, that they  are purposely trying to make bad music just so they can say to themselves "Hey, we didn't even try on that **edited** and these retarded fans of ours still bought it. Hey I got it dude, why don't we record ourselves taking a **edited** next time, I bet they'd still buy it!" Then they sit and laugh at you while they sip their expensive champagne they bought with your money! Some of the stuff that has come out I actually like a lot. Such as Cake, Franz Ferdinand, and Modest Mouse. Fountains of Wayne aren't bad either, and so are the Gorillas, but, those are just a few. But, hey, thats just my two cents.

Date Posted: 07 February 2005 at 5:57pm

-------------

Posted By: Koolit32
Date Posted: 07 February 2005 at 5:59pm
All music. Someone wrote it, someone performed it, someone obviously cared enough to make it. I agree that some artists put crap out to make bank, but you are saying "ALL" (except for the bands you listed, of course) music that has come out within the last whenever is crap.

If anything, bands that you listed earlier... making "Best of" EP's, recording new stuff, having more concerts. I'm sure they put heart and soul into it years and years ago, but now that it's hip, they put out whatever will make the quickest dime.

They are making money off of the new craze of "I LEIK OLD MUZIC".

well, i didnt mean to start a huge fight. all i said was that i refuse to listen to "punk" rock. i will listen to ANYTHING but that. every loser and **edited** in my school has to listen to it and its downright annoying. last year there was a battle of the bands at my school. maybe 2, if that, were decent enough for me to listen to. the rest completely sucked. and the kicker is that they all think they are the hottest thing alive. every one of my friends said that they sucked major a$$.
