As they all said its a mock silencer so it doesn't really silence the gun. Also silencers are still illegal.

Straight from the ATF's FAQ:
(A9) Q. Are Paintball and/or Airgun Sound Suppressers legal? [ javascript history.back1 - Back ]
A. §921(a)(24) The terms "firearm silencer" and "firearm muffler" mean any device for silencing, muffling, or diminishing the report of a portable firearm, including any combination of parts, designed or redesigned, and intended for use in assembling or fabricating a firearm silencer or firearm muffler, and any part intended only for use in such assembly or fabrication.
Numerous paintball silencers tested by the Firearms Technology Branch have been determined to be, by nature of their design and function, firearm silencers as defined in 18 U.S.C., Section 921(a)(24). An individual wishing to manufacturer a firearm silencer must receive prior approval from ATF by submitting an ATF Form 1 and paying a $200 making tax.
If I have any further questions as to this classification, who should I contact?
Please send a written request to our Firearms Technology Branch at the following address:
Bureau of ATF Firearms Technology Branch 650 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Room 6450 Washington, DC 20226

Jus about everyone that knows about silencers/suppressors knows that it wont silence a shot being fired from a paintball marker especially being used on regulated paintball field...but, then again, all paintball fields will not allow such mods to be used on their fields at all.

silencer's aren't illegal on paintball guns only on firearms. Paintball guns are airguns and do not require an explosion to propell a projectile at a high velocity, so under NO circumstances can a paintball gun be considered a firearm, therefore silencers, suppressors, and mufflers are all legal on any type of airgun.

The only catch is that by producing a silencer for a paintball gun is that it cannot ALSO be used on an actual gun. Take, for example, the link I posted above. It's a barrel threaded to fit an A-5 with the "silencer" built as part of the barrel. Since this COULD silence the report (BANG!) of a gun, it *would* be illegal unless they pay the tax. However, since this barrel would not work on an actual firearm, it can't classify under the supposed tax. The rule there assumes the silencer is an attachment TO the barrel, not PART of the barrel. And, those mock silencers can be easily modded to become an actual one for a paintball gun. Just don't stuff it with cotton or something similar because that doesn't help.

Read Unicorn's post. The BATF considers paintball gun
silencers to be the same as firearm silencers. Therefore, they
are illegal, unless they are approved and registered.

According to state laws... and everything else... silencers on any fire arm which includes black powder, pellet guns, air soft, and PAINTBALL. So yes it is illegal the on from paintballgear.com is mock which is fake... just there for the looks. As far as the other one... idk, but silenerces on any fire arm is illegal in most all states, if not all of them.

You need to understand, it doesnt matter if the silencer is a working model or not, it still "not allowed to be used on a regulated woodsball field" and if they were allowed, what would be your 1st reaction when you see someone pointing some kind of gun wit a silencer at you....do you think its an actual firearm attached to it or is it jus another paintball marker....looks can be deceiving.

That's where I was getting the facts from... Unicorn's post!
I was just trying to establish a syllogism between what is considered to be a "firearm" and an "airgun" as it relates to "firearm supression". I understand that silencers, designed or redesigned, are illegal as it relates to firearms.
However, nowhere in the text does it mention anything about airguns. According to what was written in text, I was just making the cognitive distinction that "firearms" aren't and never will be "airguns".
So based on the information provided, their are NO laws, provided by the ATF, governing suppressors as it relates to being applied to an airgun.
Simply put...

evil_fingers, you said it's against the rules to have a paintball gun with a silencer because the way it looks? So, you're also saying that mock silencers are illegal too?
AND, to help settle this, check out the ATF post. Anything that is used to silence the report of a firearm. Well, let's think about this, shall we? Here's a product that reduces the report of a paintball gun- THE COMP-AIR SYSTEM (Low Pressure Kit). Now who here wants to tell me it's illegal in most states? Here's another for you- ported barrels. Which states are those illegal in? Let's talk about guns now. An Excalibur that operates off of 45 psi and is incredibly silent- anyone wanna argue that this gun is illegal?
I find it quite funny that many of you are making comments about morons wanting silencers- I find it funny that all of you are using barrels with porting, which is a method of quietening (read:silencing) a paintball gun.
Think first, then post.

He left out a section from the ATF site.

There you go. Yes, they ARE ILLEGAL on paintball markers.

Not exactly! Some players want to be a little more steathly than that. How do you expect to train for the military if your gun cannot replicate the sound of a bird chirp (Yes, my silencer is that good)?

when it comes to firearms, the explosion doesnt make the
noise, the noise comes from the bullet pieceing the gasses
surrounding the muzzle-therefore a paintball silencer would
work the same as a firearms silencer and would be illegal-
