ok, i recieved a 98c for christmas this year, i took it out to sc with my friend, i had absalutely no problems with it at all, not even 1 broken ball in like 12 hours, i took it again the next week and broke 4 in the first game, this continued all day becoming very frustrating. i got home and decided to clean it, i found that to get all of the paint out i needed to completely take it apart, NOT A GOOD IDEA, after i cleaned it all, i found it EXTREMELY dificult to put back together, and eventually i managed to lose the trigger spring and the front sight spring, and probably more, i need to know if it is reliable to just send it in to tippmann and have it repaired, there repair hotline is definately not reliable, i live in so cali will it take forever to get it back? if you have any suggestions ill take any advice into consideration, PLZ HELP ME!?!?!?!?

its important to take apart, oil, and clean your gun as often as possible. the first time may seem very confusing, but with more practice, youll know it inside-out.

what shall you do now? get a towel, or some kind of flat clean rough area, and disassemble it on that. then check for what is and isnt there by resorting to your manual, or the one here- http://tippmann.com/support/manuals.asp - http://tippmann.com/support/manuals.asp  . take everything out, and neatly lay it out a few times to get to know it. after you find whats there and not there, you can order new parts directly from Tippmann, or at your nearest proshop. find the nearest here- http://tippmann.com/dealers/list.asp?title=California&state=CA - http://tippmann.com/dealers/list.asp?title=California&st ate=CA  . and finally, put your new parts in, put it back together, and your good to go. if you still dont want to take it apart, you can take it to a proshop, and theyll replace whats missing for a price. but it is vital that you take apart your gun, clean and oil it after at least every day of play. so this is a good chance to get to know it.

Hey, the two screws on the right side of the 98 (barrel facing away from you) have been stripped, actually the port holes are stripped. Will this mess up my gun or cause any leaks. If so, how can I fix it without having to spend a fortune?

Those two screws hold the valve in place; they're important.  If you don't want to buy a new valve, you really only have two choices.

1.  Use lots of red loctite on the screws and let it set overnight once you put them in.  (If it's really badly stripped, not just a little loose, this probably will not help.)

2.  Take the marker apart and take the valve and screws to the hardware store.  Show them to an employee and ask about slightly larger self-tapping screws to replace the stock ones.

Dont hijack someone else' thread, its considered very rude in the Forum and if you must ask a maintenance question start your own thread.

If your marker is still under warranty then "yes" Tippmann can reliably fix your marker wit no cost to you except maybe the shipping and handling.

E-mail Tippmann. Somewhere on this site there is a link. Or, you could take it to your local proshop. I know California has a ton of proshops.

The pen spring trick works great, the paper clip replacement probably won't, they're just not "springy" enough.

The trigger spring can be replaced by a pen spring. Don't worry too much about loosing the front sight spring, I've nearly lost it several times. I'm not sure on how to get a new front spring though. I guess just call Tippmann.

Order and price any parts here. Tippmann actually refers people out of warranty to them. They have every part, and you could build one yourself from scratch (well, from pieces).

You really need to open the gun apart first, then before touching/ poking/ pulling on anything just stare at it. Think about how it works, why that piece is there, and remember how they're positioned. Tippmanns use a very simple system.

Just to let you know that "front sight spring" is accually a vital peice.... It kinda holds the elbow, if you try to latch the elbow on it will just come unlatched and you wont get paint.

Get the neccessary parts for your 98c and do it yourself, it will save you a ton a money compared to having a pbshop do it...meaning the parts are fair priced and easy to get but, the "labor cost per hour" is the killer to anyone's wallet.....how do you think repair shops manage to stay in business?
