this is a great move by smart parts. it appears to be a high end marker, and you cant beat the price. and after you look at it more and more after the first time, it doesnt really look that bad. if i hadnt bought a shocker 2 days ago i would have seriously looked into it. all in all, a very innovative and smart thing for smart parts to do haha. ------------- The A-5's days are numbered... | That's pretty lame, in my opinion. Also, that is cheap plastic (yeah, nylonpolymer, whatever), not ABS plastic, you idiots. Whoever said that should go learn how to read. Also, that trigger frame looks way too plastic-y to be aluminum. Maybe it is, but that just means the powder coating on it sucks. Maybe it'll turn out well, but I doubt it. I'm also 100% sure that its effeciency will be worse than the first '03 Shockers that came out. |

Most of the complaints I see about the Ion are that it's ugly. My point is, who cares what it looks like?
If it shoots as well as they say for only $285, it's a bargain. Now reliability and all that still needs to be determined since they're brand new but it looks like a good deal to me. Tippmann markers are great, but I wouldn't call them beautiful. Never stopped about a million people from buying them though. It's not about the looks. Cheap plastic? Its the same thing that hoppers are made out of, I don't see them breaking when they take a hit. Yes, the frame is aluminum and all black powdercoating looks that way. The efficiency is between 1000-1400 on a 68/45, if its less than that, than Smart Parts just ruined there entire business. I didn't say it was made out of something different than hoppers-I said it wasn't ABS plastic-which is cheap. I also didn't say it would break-just that it was cheap, which that plastic is.
My black powdercoated Spyder frame deffinately didn't look that plastic-y, maybe it's the pictures, but that doesn't really matter anyway. The effeciency is also a total lie-most people who've shot them say 800-1000 on a 68/4500, about 50% better than a Matrix or 1st run Shocker. If it doesn't get 1000-1400 shots off a 68/4500, no ones going to care! The people buying them are doing it because it's cheap. They really don't care, because if it performs even 1/2 as well as Smart Parts says it does, it'll be a good buy to them. Now stop taking my words and warping them, and saying I said things I didn't. Normally cheap meens low in quality in order to cut costs i.e. it breaks more easily. Thats deffinately not warping your words. There are different types of powdercoat, maybe yours is a gloss black instead of matte. The efficiency from what I've heard (mostly AOL convos' from actual owners) is about 1,050 off a 68/45, and of course that is before the gun is broken in. You may be somewhat informed, but from your recent posts, you really haven't gone in that deep to the gun. Meh, I don't see the point in spending $300 to buy something I wouldn't use, other than the fact I don't have $300 just lying around. I'd deffinately wait a couple runs even if I hear from everyone that it never runs out of air, never chops, and is light as a feather-I simply don't trust SP quality control. Either way, I look forward to a review Gewwy. The only thing is, most guns don't have break in periods, and I doubt the ION has one, especially when SP says it doens't. But 1,050 isn't bad off a 68/4500, about 50% better than a Matrix, non-HE bolt Shockers, and Automags. About on par with a 'cocker, little worse than a timmy.
I'm also starting to have this strange sensation...I kinda like it...hopefully that will fade-or the gun will be really good. |

im undecided about this gun, unsure if i think it looks good or not, kinda in the mid bout that. Price is definitly good, but obviously before i even think about buying a sp gun i want to wait a while and wait for the reviews coming in. Not goin to give in to the hype just yet. -------------

I have given in to the hype. I figured if it sucks I take a $20 loss on ebay, but, if its awesome sweet, because otherwise I won't have one for another month. First year SP guns usually do have some problems, but by the 2nd year they are gone. I don't agree with what SP has attempted to do in our sport, they do make a quality product. They are taking shocker tech and trying to take over the lowend market. I say give it a year and this gun will be leading sales in that price range. ------------- LOW SPEED - HIGH DRAG
