Who would have known a $25.00 Red Dot Scope would be so popular..................

Armson Pro-Dot. Their barrels can't cut it anymore, but their sights are still at the top of the game.

The man hit the nail on the head.  The 30mm size makes for quick/easy acquisition, it's built to take a beating, it's highly adjustable, and looks cool.

Now for some of the other sights metioned above:  I had a couple of ADCOs and never liked them.  They couldn't be adjusted low enough to compensate for arc when shooting at longer ranges.  I usually set my sights up to shoot low at close range so they are right on at longer ranges.  One of the ADCOs broke when I tried to set it where I wanted it; this has never been an issue with the BSA.  In ADCOs defense, they do stand behind their products, they replaced the sight for free.  Of course, I traded it off because it didn't work for me, but they did replace it.

I'm not sure the Armson pro dot (which is an outstanding sight) and the IZON (which I can't stand) belong on this list.  Technically they are not "red dot" sights, they are fiber-optic based occluded eye gunsights (OEG).  Yes, I know that's being picky and they provide pretty much the same effect, but this stuff bugs me.

Yup, got a BSA 30mm at the local Bass Pro Shops for under $30, perfect for the A5. But I honestly don't use it much, mostly just sight down the barrel.

I had a BSA and didn't like it much.  In bright sunlight you lost the dot and really had to hunt for it...especially if you were sighting against light backgrounds.  Maybe you guys in the woods never have had a problem with them but out here in the desert myself and a couple of other people sure did have issues with them.  I dug up an old Laseraim Illusion red dot.  They are out of business and no longer made but you can still find them on E-bay.

It has 7 brightness levels and is about a 27mm tube.  The brightness of the Laseraim on 2 (out of 7 with 7 being brightest) was a bit brighter than the BSA on 11 (out of 11 with 11 being brightest).  Makes a world of difference and picking up the dot is never a problem even in very bright sunlight.
