its going to be terribly outnumbered. i registered today, they said a total around 800 people with i think she said 600 russians vs 200 germans. its going to be a tough fight. why so many russians? i guess its the predjudice towards the german army. the fighting division of the german army was no differant than our guys back then. its the political part that did the evil. the russians killed far more of their own civilians than the germans simply to shut them up. to me the red army did far worse than the german army. |

I'm going with the Russians for 2 reasons. 1) My family came from Russia. 2) Russia is the reason the Allies won the war. Without victory at Stalingrad, the Nazis probably would have won the war. The teams may be stacked on the Russian side now, but THEY WILL EVEN OUT. After the pre-reg date, they just put everyone who didn't register on time on the team w/ less players. So, say the day before the game its a 3-2 ratio, (which is likely how it's going to be) then all the walk-ons, of which there will be MANY, will go to the team with fewer players until things even out. So, don't worry, the teams are not going to be rediculously stacked. I've been to Skirmish for games like this more times than I can count and the teams are ALWAYS pretty darn even.

Registered our team this weekend, we have 6 definitely going plus another 3-4 sitting on the fence. We're Russians (fits the gun/uniform I'm getting/assembling). Called in today to register 5 ppl. You guesed it, going on the Russian side (we are all Russian so I guess thats the reason for that choice)
The Guy on the phone from Skirmish told me it's going to be 900 people. I hope they are not lieing, sound abit far fetched. Then again, this is my first scenario game. Hope to see you guys on the field, we are going to be sporting some good old AK-47 A-5 kits (I know it was made after the WW2, but what the heck.) BTW anyone going to dress into a real Russian/German uniform, you know to fit into the whole roleplaying thing? Just wondering, maybe my team will get the Russian WWII helmets or something like that. |

I'm trying to put together a Russian uniform, I've found some of the stuff, just need to order it. There will be quite a few people in some kind of uniform hopefully, I don't want to stand out too much  . Na, 900 isn't too far fetched; D-Day was almost 3000. look on ebay, or better, military shows. repro russian stuff is very cheap. i got a whole repro uniform from a military show for $120 i think. check your local convention or expo centers for shows.. -------------

Oh, I didn't get anything for my team, lol, just me, if they want stuff they have to get it themselves. I bought the Russian wool over coat, Russian belt, and a set of British triple ammo pouches. The ammo pouches aren't Russian, but they look similar. Total it's only costing me less than $50, plus shipping. I was thinking about buying a helmet because they are so cheap, but I already own a Russian fur hat (the kind with the ear flaps and Soviet emblem on the front). Yeah that would look neat man. I am looking for a WW2 Rain Cape, cant find one for cheap though.
I guess I'll just put a red star on the helmet that I ordered form that site. Figure thats close enough for the rest to see who I'm playing for, that and my teammates AK-47 a-5

i forgot about sportsmans guide. like i said, its very cheap. i wish i could wear my SS repro helmet to stalingrad, just whitewashed it too, but my mask gets in the way. i painted a star on my russian helmet with some poster paint. it looks great, and doesnt wear off unless you rub at it. i wear it when 4 wheeling. thats the cheapest and somewhat accurate way. -------------

mine is just like it. i tried using goggles with it once, with the brim and top molding off, i still had to push the helmet up a lot to use it. its possible, but looks dumb. -------------

The forum finaly works! The game was great. Most fun I have ever had! Did any of you Germans take the Tippmann Castle along with me? Or any Russians die when we took it? Taking that castle was so much fun, best part of the day. Once we got up to it, we just massacured the people inside, but I showed no mercy! And the last hour in the dark was total chaos. I just kept firing at anything moving inside. But it was a great day. You guys definatly put up a fight. If you didnt hear the score it was around 25,000 points-Germans 20,000 points-Russians. triggerhappy, I was the last Russian in Tippmann castle when you guys took it over. I was in the 3rd level of the front left (if you're looking at the castle from the front) tower. I sat up there and got one guy to surrender when he climbed up (had no idea that I was there) but was then lit up by about 3 guys and 2 or 3 grenades. Needless to say, I was pretty much screwed. Yeah I think I remember that. I input some fire... I dont think you were the last though. After about 5mins of control we found this guy hiding in a dead end. Got him in the head a few times from the middle third story tower. And we also found a guy hiding in another corner tower sometime. That might have been before we got you though. At the night castle battle I got shot about 30 times. Probaly mostly friendly fire. I was just shooting into the smoke at anything that looked like it was moving like everyone else. It was crazy. I was looking at your gun specs. I think I was next to you in line for HPA. Were you wearing black stuff? I saw a forum patch, but I never said anything. -------------

Yeah, I was wearing all black with my forum patch on my right shoulder. I had on a Delta Force hat and was wearing a grey and black Empire bookbag. hahha yeah man i was there tippmann castle always amazing.....i dunno if u guys saw me i was german...blue PMI EVO with eggy2 all camo was in the back left tower 3rd floor if ur facing it where it says tippmann castle....i was the 2nd one in the castle at night my friend ran in first with out a gun he had a squeegy and was just telling peopel to move up and then some guy massacured me from teh 2nd floor cause u cant see nething inside the castle at night...but it was fun i probally saw some of u guys i dunno.... ------------- http://www.imageshack.us">

I can't make it to D-Day this year because I have prior commitments but I may see if I can make it for the Risk Scenario game in September. If not, I also may try doing the paddles and battles thing one weekend this summer, rafting in the day, paintball at night. Sounds like a good time! The final score is in my post above. I want to go to that risk thing in Sept. too. It sounds like its going to be similar to Stalingrad except the teams.
