i disassembled my 98 custom to put in a new valve (old one had stripped threads) and i put everything back on. When i tried to put the left reciever half on the right reciever half there would be a crack between them. it wont completly attach! i took it apart again and again and tweaked things but nothing. ive taken my gun apart countless times and i know where the parts go and everything. Has this happened to anyone?

My 98c is like that every time I take it apart to do some cleaning, jus press the left half firmly into place and it will be fine....jus make sure the front sight spring doesnt fly out and watch out for the ball detent, those 2 will always come loose very easily when putting your body halves together.

that always happens to me too. You just need to check for any parts sticking out, press a little firmer like evil-fingers said, but not too hard.

before placing on the left half, make sure the short pin is where the front sight is, make sure the front sight isnt pointing up out of the reciever, check the square nuts and make sure theyre right, and make sure the bolt handle is going through the right place.

i got it. its fine now, only there is like a 10th of a milimeter crack. but i dont think that will hurt anything. it worked fine. thank you.

p.s. when i said 10th of a milimeter, i didnt measure it im just saying the crack is almost unnoticable but there still is a lil crack, i jsut screwed on the screws a lil tighter.

Same here. It usually helps me if I loosen the bolts on the ASA Valve until it's put together. I also make sure the internals aren't popping up a little.  Check these things about you should be fine. Just for future reference.
