I play speedball and woodsball. So I need a balance of both. I heard the problems with the Flatlines and most I dont believe. I just dont wanna spend anymore money *adjusting* a gun. I have about a $300-350 spending limit. I have summed down to a A5 FlatLine or a SP Ion. Ion shoot more bps stock, if I wanted that much with the A5 i would need to spend an extra $100 bucks on an E-Grip. Im looking cost effictive but at the same time benefit me from both very fun scenerios. Ive been playing paintball for about 2 years off and on. (I am a regular at the gun ranges tho, ruger anyone?) So I got good aim considering Ive been shooting a walmart gun, I think VL Triton. cost me a wooping $100 for the gun/barrel/9oz.tank/mask/etc. ANYWAY. If I bought the Ion I would pretty much NEED a nitrogen tank, which are about $100 bucks. Im doing all this tomarrow. There is a local Academy thats selling the a5 power package, which include: A5 with standard barrel. 12oz. C02 tank, and Mask for $300.00.

Basically, I could get the Ion, but I need to spend cash on a hopper and nitrogen tank. probly $200 bucks which is a total of $500.00

or

get an A5 package for $300 and get a BigShot barrel, then save up $200 bucks to get a FlatLine barrel & E-Grip or Response Trigger.

Any idea's??? COST IS A FACTOR. Im 19, in TX going to Texas State... I dont have the money to get from my mom to spend on a paintball gun.

Given that you an off and on player, like myself, I would suggest a Tippmann. They require much less maintence and you wouldn't have to worry about nitro. Give the http://countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=3571 - Custom Pro a look. It is a good gun for both speedball and woods play, it's a Tippmann, it doesn't cost much (especially for what your getting) and if you still want the speed, go with the RT or E version.

Hope I helped!

You should get the ion.
-twice as fast as the egrip a5
-half as small
-half the weight
-when u play speed ball you will be able to keep up with the 1000
 doller guns
-you should not play scenerio games they are **edited**

                                   hope that helps

Ok guys this is my dilemma.....

I have 2 A5's atm, dont ask how lol.

I could basically eliminate one and get aproximantly $300 for it.

So thats 1 A5 with $300 ( dont ask how ).

I could either.....Buy the Ion, Play with 1 a5 for now and wait a while and buy stuff for the Ion ( nitrogen tank, halo b w/ ripper ).

Or try to sell the other A5 to someone and buy the stuff for the Ion right there....

Again I definatly 100% I can get $300. Then probly sell the other A5 for like $180-$200??? buy a halo b and a nitrogen tank...

-or-

Get $300 for one A5 and buy the Flatline barrel, E-Grip, Double-Trigger, Regulator, and Nitrogen tank for the other A5.

Specs.

Ion.... 17BPS

A5 w/ E-Grip 15BPS ( but I would have range with that flatline barrel )

What ya guys think?

I think you should get the A-5  with the flatline, and E-grip i think it is better than an ion i think that it is going to be another problem gun, if they are selling it cheap then they cant be so amazing.

take my advice get the A-5.

I have just started to get back into paintball after Halo 2 on live took over my free time. This is the first time I have seen or even heard of the Ion and I am thoroughly impressed. Break-beam, 17 bps, $300? From SP?!? What's this world coming to? If this Ion is for real I would suggest it.

Any one with some good Ion info go ahead and post it in here, I am interested.

I made up my mind. Im going with the Ion. Gonna sell my other A5.....

Btw anyone up for trades, Im willing to trade a stock A5 with 12oz tank for a HPA/Nitrogen tank and a good hopper ( Halo B/Egg2 ) I will throw in extra $$$$

If you play woodsball more often than speedball do NOT get a ion. My cousin plays woodsball and while playing he tried to slide behind a tree. It cracked the grip and the casing. He replaced that and when playing in rain he fried the board. Not that its crap or anything, but it was made for speedball not for woods.

the A-5 with flatline is good for speedball and woodsball even tho i have to say the A-5 is mega heavy for a gun but i'm a slim teenager and have no problem holding it with a 20 oz but i can't hold it up straight with one hand for 2 long if that gives u an idea of wait at all. but the flatline will break on someone's belly button of the break at a spoeedball course and this guy was flabby anyways back to the point the flatline/a-5 is better than you think on the speedball field but the ion won't do so well on woodsball so ur gonna ahve to choose.

The A-5 Flaltline is a very accurate marker but I belive that you would be much happier getting the E-grip and the JCS double trig with that A-5.  It adds alot of speed to the A-5 I can get 12/13 bps walking that combination.  Get the Flatline though if you are gonna be in woods where you need to longball alot. Its also accurate left/right not just long range.  It shoots straight and far with ease.  The Ion will be an okay woodsball gun but its good for speedball no doubt.
