Is it going to be FPO this year? If so, count me out, otherwise, I'll make the drive from Wisconsin for a third year in a row.

I'm still praying that with the new partnership with EMR tippmann will say screw you to hells survivors and their issues and move TWC to EMR.
Its a great field, great staff, and closer to me.

Yeh,  HSI went FPO for 2005, which really sucks!  The paint is pretty good quality, but I can get better.  It is the red fill type that is a pain for clean-up.  It shoots well from my flatty though.  I wonder if HSI is going to make up the lost funds from people playing less, by going FPO!  I went there 20 times last year.  I will not be able to afford half that many trips this year.  I hear Futureball is not FPO if you bring your own gear.  Am I right?

I'll be playing at Atomix this year on the weekends that I'd normally play the MMG and TWC.

The only game I'll really miss at HS due to the new FPO rule is Global Conquest.  It's really the best game HS has going for itself and not the "goof-ball frey" that MMG and TWC are.

If you play Global Conquest and you want to hook up with some organised guys play for Canada.  This will be the first year in like 4 or 5 that I've missed this event.

In all honesty, to the players that have traveled to HS from as far as Washington state, this is the event I would travel to, IF it were a 2 day event.

I wonder why HS doesn't have a 24 hour scenario. Does anyone know why?

massive overshooting, massive wiping, poor facilities, poor campsites, understaffed for the big games.

I used to be a booster around here for HSI. But then I got welts that so far have left permanent scars. They bled for quite a while. All I got was a stupid pin. Hells did nothing about it.

It's the hot guns that p!$$ me off.  It happens at other fields too but HS having more players at the big games means you'll see cheating more often.  Still not believeing 2000 players per day.

I was playing at another field with 3, well known speedball teams and we were playing 1 of them and they were playing on, wiping and the refs were helping them against a bunch of walk-ons. One kid got hosed by both a Timothy and a Force fly 4 or whatever and continued to move into the bunker and shoot both guys.  He was screaming like an idiot that he wasn't out so I wiped the hits on his helmet across his goggles and he shut up.  I crossed the line making contact but I think that   javascript smilie':usa'">USA We, the player need to take the issue into our own hands and deliver some discipline javascript smilie''">Evil

as a ref I miss cheating a lot. I usually have a lot of people to watch on a single field. It usually however gets sorted out. Someone gets lit up. Or I do.

This will be the first year OMHW does not show for TWC, and for all the reasons mentioned previously. Field has gone down hill fast, rampant overshooting, wiping, poor sportsmanship, etc. Too many of us drive from too far to be again disappointed at what the TWC has turned into. Also our allegience to Tippmann has diminished and many of us have gone to other markers, as well as how Tippmann treated two of our members who were employees of Tippmann, corperate paintball, profit over play both Dave and Tippmann.......

Hey Oldsoldier

If you are not planing on playing in the TWC this year..

How about getting paid, to help referee the game instead?

I think you guys would be a great asset to the event!

summary.....
cram 10 people in a phone booth with markers, start shooting.
the field is way too small to have that many people. eventually
what happens is players start shooting anything, hit or not, just
so they can say they marked someone. i think the overshooting
is a justification so they don't feel like they wasted money. you
can keep yelling you are out, marker in the air, and guaranteed
you will get nailed all the way back to the dmz

Its not as bad when some people get overshot. I donb't exactly mind cause its usually at a distance. But when you have 10-12 year old kids, or whatever the minimum age is, scared to come out of their bunkers because someone is dumping on it at 25bps while their barrel is raised WITH a barrel bag. Then thats just BS.

Needless to say I just about tossed that guy in the lake so the kids could walk off.

By the way Dave, if you want my honest opinion, you could make the TWC totally awesome again.

First thing, reffereeing. I still see too many refs sitting around not doing anything. Give them some padded clothes and get them moving.

Second, why do all the employees go home as soon as play is done first day???? Apart from a small security detail everyone bails. Just because the game is done for the day doesn't mean the festivites have to be. Have a ginormous bonfire like there used to be. Have a massive weenie roast or something. More opportunity for charity involvement right there.

Third, parking. Kudos on the taxi service but it isn't always available. I have no suggestion for parking, but it just plain sucks sometimes.

Fourth, campsites. Some of them just plain suck. We got screwed last time i went because half of our campsite was unuseable because it had small tree all over. We couldn't fit enough tents, and some had to sleep in their cars.

Fifth, how about some awards or something. Refs spot good sportsmanship all the time. Someone helping another player off the field, escorting groups through firefights. Why not reward it. Or take some judgement and give away a marker or something.

I play frequently at HS and FB outdoor, have for a few years, and I have only seen things get better and better as time goes by. Yes HS is a smaller area, but I was there for last years Global Conquest and TWC and had a great time. Sure with that many people you will have some incidents, but overall both great games. This year the FPO at HS is a big change, but they have returned to the $ 20 al day fee, and you get free co2, so the FPO isn't that big a deal. The fireball paint is very good, and the red fill is not that bad for staining.

Futureball outdoor has made A LOT of improvements and is still BYOP and $ 15 all day play with a bunch of new field bunkers. With all of their area to play it is a great deal.

So I really don't understand why people think the FPO at HS is a big deal at $60 a case, that is an average price. The MMP(manufacturers minimum price) for Marbelizer is $57.50, so the price is in line with a standard "great" paint. Every field has their own way to make their money. If you don't like it, don't go. It is as simple as that.

This year I'll be going to Skirmish D-Day for the first time, as well as returning to Ok. D-Day and the TWC, so we'll see what each has to offer.

Play safe! Play often!

Now you see me..

Now you don't!

the big issue I have with FPO, is that usually when you charge for field paint entry is supposed to go down. Big games are still the same price.

Both are good fields.

Overshooting does seem to be a big problem. I think those rewards for good sportsmanship would be cool. Give away 1 or 2 big items so people will actually try to help and play fair. Also what could really help alot is STRESSING the ref in play. Mention it over and over again so people become aware about it. Dont use it to catch cheaters use it to scare people into not cheating.

Other than that issue all the past MMG and TWC games ive been to have been fun and well worth the drive.

After reading the entire thread...
I agree with most.
The cheating at HSI is rampant. The overshooting is very bad.
The primary reason that The Chairborne Rangers will never play at HSI again is similar to OMHW. The cost.
The camping facilities are horrible. The first generation porta crappers are truly disgusting. Even before they fill up...usually about 10am Saturday morning they are all but unusable.
FPO?? You gotta be kidding me.
The field is not big enough for that many players.
Do some quick math on how much money this guy brings in for this game alone.
He is making more than enough to do something about the porta crappers and the parking/camping before he even begins to rape you on paint.
Sorry for the rant.

yeah, port-a-potties are also a huge problem I never mentioned before.

As a solution I usually just hold it until I go out to lunch, dinner (i don't eat breakfast). I'm fortunate and have a bladder built for traveling. Not all other do, especially people like the OMHW who are becoming incontinent in their old age.

Once or twice i have ducked into the womens potties just because the mens are disgusting.
