the problem with using co2 in winter is that since its so cold the liqiufied c02 stay liqiufied instead of turning into a gas. expansion chamber help with this but once its too cold even it is not gonna help. if you plan on playing in the winter hpa is proably the baest way to go

you will most probably get snow coming out of your gun (liquid co2) nothing bad, i recommend a expansion chamber or anti-siphon on your tank, the o-rings probably won't crack. it is not dangerous at all using co2 in the winter, its probably safer in some extent.

to have a great time get some winter balls, draxxus artic inferno are the best in my opinion.

get a expansion chamber or anti-siphon your tank to get rid of the bad effects of cold weather play.

if you want to get rid of the effects completely get an air/nitrogen kit, they are far more consistent than co2 and cleaner.

98c's work fine in cold weather.  I use an A-5 and my kid has a 98c with expansion chamber.  The x is new for this season.  CO2 will spit frost in the winter.  You will see that your shots are inconsistant with the stock version.  Try to keep the tank warm... like tuck it under your arm a lot and if it is new fill, put it on the floor of your car for 10 minutes with the heat on.  It will not damage the marker to use it in the Winter.  I would suggest the x chamber if you plan on doing it much though.  Your stock 98 will go through a lot of CO2 in cold weather.

For your Co2 put a sock around the tank, literally like one of your socks. It keeps it warm.

I bought 100 hand warmers on ebay and put a couple under each of the tank covers. Kept down the liquid co2/snow and kept my tanks shhoting longer

myth #1) socks keep your tank warmer... socks dont keep the tank warm they insolate the tank holding in the cold the excaping co2 creates....

myth #2) hand warmers in the sock/tank cover are good for playing in winter... although you might get more shots and they do keep the tank warm they also creat a safty hazard because the temp of the hand warmers can damage the tank.

you can play fine during the winter...if you dont mind a chance that your hand might freeze to the gun, lol, it actually happens. if you want better efficiency, then put a couple of hand warmers on your x-chamber if you have one and wherever else co2 runs through your gun. btw, co2 is an example of the third law of thermodynamics (explained to me by a scientist) so if you have a physics book handy pop it open and take a look to see how co2 works...basically what happens is the co2 pulls heat (energy) out of the surrounding air molecules. it does this because it was pressurized and the molecules jammed close together, so when its released, it wants to spread out which requires heat.

My group plays all winter, (we're in Idaho) all shooting A-5's.  We don't do anything different from what we do in the summer months, and have never had any problems.  You just go through co2 a little faster.

This will not help at all.  The tank gets cold from shooting as well as from environmental exposure, so a sock will insulate the tank, not warm it.  the only reason a sock keeps your foot warm is because your foot gives off heat that the sock retains.

This is an interesting idea that should work pretty well.  Putting it under the tank cover is a great idea... or sock boy above could put it under the oder eaters...  Sorry, I'm really not trying to be a dk, but some of these posts are pretty silly.
