Ok, I saw this on PB Nation, and so I searched here but got nothing

Anyways some guy on pbnation said that in Florida, they are trying to get paintball banned, I guess this all came from when some hoolagans were shooting up buildings.  Some judge claims that anyone that plays paintball is most likely doing bad stuff.  I guess a lot of people are pushing for the ban so it looks like it will probably go through.

Any of you know anything about this or is it even true?

The judge is a moronic ignorant fool with that statement.

You see people riding BMX bike all over places illegaly, but there isn't as big a fuss about it.

This is why I said before that we need to form a type of paintball N.R.A., to protect people's right to play paintball and stop paintball from being outlawed, just like what the N.R.A. does for people and firearms.

How am I having a bad attitude towards it? The bad attitude would seem to be yours.. saying that they can ban it if they want.

They cant ban it, FL has too many fields and too much money invested in it. Too many people put out of business = bad for economy = bad.

I didn't mean a bad attitude, that was a poor choice of words on my part, I meant that choosing not to do anything because you think paintball is untouchable is not a safe attitude to have towards this because there are already several towns in the u.s. that are considering outlawing paintball. And I'm sorry, I did not mean to offend you.

I live in Florida and there pushing it because 11 people were shot in the eye and lost vision when a group a people were riding around with high end markers and freezing there balls. I doubt it will go through for the following reasons:
1. The money as said before
2. The players, Florida is really big on paintball.
3. If it does go through, every baller in Florida is going to rally and get the ban removed.

I say if this goes through we all go to Florida and cause Chaos, then we take whatever state officials in the area hostage. Then we say we'll start killing hostages if they dont remove the ban. That or we just do it the "peaceful" way and protest.

There is no way that they could ban paintball and shut down all of those fields that are there.  That would bankrupt so maby people it wouldn't be funny.

Don't think for a second its not possible that paintball can't be baned because its to big a bissiness, in the late 1800's cocaine was leagal, when they figured out that it was harmful they outlawed it, even though it was a huge bissiness. If they think that paintball is harmful and dangerous, then they will outlaw it too, we can't let them do that.

You know that really sucks because you know who it probaly was? A bunch of freaking **edited**ers running around witht heir gangs half high and half drunk. I live in FL and this is really dumb. Their are alot of major fields in FL. It's where the world cup is held at and thats a big attraction. What I personally support what should happen is making them hand out liscenes for the guns. That would make it to where you just can't go and buy a piantball gun for 30 bucs then do drivebys. If they made the liscenes like 50 bucks then I would bet any of yall that the rate of paintball attacks like that would drop instantly.

I think if they do ban it, it is not going to be completely banned it will just be banned in yards and "outlaw". I think fields will be safe and it won't go out of business. Stores may go out of business because they won't have the people buying stuff to play in the backyard. By my thinking fields ill probably get more business.

Heres whats most likly going to happen. They are going to review it. Its going to go to a high court, maybe the supreme court, who knows. It will be reviewed by looking at both views of the sport. The professional and the jackass view. Most likly because the sport is sooo big it wont happen. They will prolly do what 98 said and require a licsense to get one which requires a saftey course. Alot like a gun permit. Then they will require the permit be shown any time you purchase a paintball marker, air, or paint. Now, another reason I dont think it would happen is because Paintball is the fastest growing sport and is possibly goign up for consideration in the Olympics if some changes are made to the governing factors of the sport. So I highly doubt it will be ban. But it is possible and if it is ban Im moving

That safety permit idea....
I actually like it...
Requiring people to take a safety course to get air or paint etc.
Maybe you could remove the 18yrs rule on paint and stuff, and make it a safety permit rule.  But then again, people like those that shot all those people without masks probably know the rules--just choose not to follow them.  However, it would cut down on new players doing stupid stuff.
But how would you regulate eBay and other online stores?  Can't get a fill from them, though...

I can't believe that this is true. No mention of it anywhere, and there would be HELL in my town if someone got wind of this. We just had a huge article on paintball in the local newspaper too, and it didn't mention anything. In fact, it stressed the whole 'It's not violent' perspective.

99% sure this isn't real, 100% sure it won't happen in any case.

I never said it was unsafe, I said that the government might consider it unsafe, read my entire post, I completely agree w/ you in the sense that the only way paintball is unsafe is when idiots go around shooting people without masks and we need to let the gov. know that, after all I am a paintballer and why whould I think it was unsafe.

Unless the Presidents fires them. Which he can do since he has the power too due to the system of checks and balances. Anyway, Im thinking there will be some sort of safty issue required to purchase paintball equipment. As for the Ebay issure, they can just simply ban selling pb markers and paint on Ebay anyway. It would suck for some people, but eh.... I dont care.

Supreme Court Justices are in office for life. The only way the office will be vacated is if they die or resign. The president can not remove them. This allows them to make their rulings without being pressured into making a certain decision. That is why it is such a big deal when the pres. get to appoint justices.
