The question is this: Would you buy

the ugliest paintball gun  in the world (imagine a paintball gun that has
a backspin* barrel without any kind of shroud to hide it, and the
entire gun looks like pieces of pipe were welded to a metal box with a double trigger and it has a plain black and gray look
) if it were the most comfortable paintball gun in the world (it would have a
grip frame similar to a Y-grip**
), and it was above-average in every performance category (fires about
16-18 bps and
consumes an average amount of air), and it can run on either
CO2 and HPA because of a neat
CO2 regulator that makes CO2 act like Compressed Air, and the gun would be between
$300 to $500? This gun would
never break and the design of the backspin barrel on this gun makes it
tolerant towards many paintball bore sizes and it would
rarely chop paint, and there would be a squeegie kit that makes cleaning the barrel an effortless action. There would be
no electronics in the gun but it is still possible to hit 16-18 bps with the gun's unique method of shooting twice as fast as you pull the trigger.

In other words, do you buy a gun based on performance only, or would you judge it by looks first?

*Backspin barrels effect the way the paintball moves during flight (makes it spin in a way that thrusts incoming air below it, creating lift), and makes it travel farther distances by reducing the effects of gravity on it.

** Y-grip is a grip design created by Airgun Designs that is reverse to conventional firearm grip design, and makes it more comfortable to tuck the gun in closer to the body in paintball to reduce player profile.

This is a fictional marker idea.

I'd purchase it.  I've found I can make almost any marker look good, but the success rate of my performance enhancing ideas is only around 60%.  (There have been some SPECTACULAR failures though.  I'm just happy I've never seriously injured myself with a paintball idea.)

A-5 isn't that good out of the box..
