Played first game of the season this morning. Kid at the field was showing off his new goofy Ion to all the n00b's at the field. Anyways my buddy has a PMI Evo which I'll talk about after.

The ION was a joke compared to all the hype around it. It was less accurate than my A-5 which had the stock barrel on. The only thing redeeming about it is it's really gas efficient and somewhat fast.. until the kid chopped on his second pod. He was using sweet Diablo's too and chopped one real bad. BOOM, Goggles punk!

After the game I asked to see it and he let me just because kids are so eager to show off their guns. I hated the gun. It felt so cheap and would probably break easy. It chopped again when I fired some of my balls and I said here enjoy.

My friend has a PMI Evo which goes for about 280 bucks and it was superior to the ION. The ION was faster but the Evo was way more accurate and didn't chop. Better materials too.

So all of you kids that are praising the ION and don't even have it, get off the bandwagon and smell the fresh folgers.

he barrel chopped both times.

he had some revision of the Empire Reloader going.

barrel breaks arent the guns fault, and u can change that by getting a new barrel, maybe thats why the breaks where happening

I think your the noob here. If you werent you would know that barrel breaks are cause by not matching the paint to barrel and/or using bad paint, which would also explaining the bad accuarcy. I know many people on here who have loved there Ion, I myself are now tempted buy one because of all the great things I have heard about them.

its kind of common sence to think barrel breaks have to do with barrels and not the anti-chop  eyes on the gun.  (hence the name barrel break)

no not really. the gun is slow. it has cheap materials. i'm already reading reviews of it breakin' on bunkers. it's as loud as a co2 A-5 almost.

cheap reg with velocity spikes.. more recoil than a spyder..

and the worst .. exposed solenoid coil in the internals.

this gun is the epitomy of cheaply made.

and I'll repeat the accuracy is horrid relative to what people are saying about this gun. And I do blame the gun for the break because even when I fed it my paint which was flawless it happened once.

my friend slid into a bunker and hit the edge now his feedneck won't come off because the threads are messed.

say what you like about this piece of junk but owning one of these is like an overpowered kit car. it's gonna junk the first chance you give it.

how else do you think they are selling it for 300? I don't think smart parts is taking a loss.

Dude, I dont care how "perfect" your paint is. Theres something called BORE SIZES which you need to learn about. Just because it works for your barrel doesnt mean its going to work for the Ion's barrel. So that covers the Chops and Inaccurate part.

Your also changing your story. First you said, this gun is pretty fast but its chops alot(which we already proved wrong). Now your saying its slow? Dont change your story, it aint good for your rep.

Just because it feels cheap doesnt mean it is. The shell is made of Composite which isnt bullet proof, but are we dodging paint, or bullets?

The feed neck doesnt screw into the shell(which you said was the cheap part) it screws into the interior body, which is protected by the shell. You must of hit the bunker really hard to hit the shell and go and damage the internal body and mess up the thread for the feedneck.

I have never heard anyone say they broke, so I think thats just some more BS.

You dont get it. The facts such as accuaracy and barrel breaks arent just for the Ion, its for all markers. Matching paint to bore is common mistake people make. Saying its cheap its right, I have used composite many times. One of my markers has many Composite peices.

Im not trying to convince him to like it, Im try to explain that the stuff he pointed out that were "bad" can be easily fixed. Sayings its chops alot when it really doesnt, it just needs new paint. Saying its inaccurate is false because it just needs new paint once again. Saying its "cheap" material is also false because the composite used on the marker is very durable.

This gun couldn't keep up with the loader, wasn't accurate and the velocity spiked. It's fragile at least to some extent and the detents suck. Nobody here can prove any of this wrong so until you can.. quit lurking around with your stupid "0mG pwn3d" leet speak pre-teenage crap and come back when you can respond with facts and not just flaming and stuff that comes out edited. I can't even take you seriously when you talk like that.. and nobody can except for the next flamer in line.

but you guys are right about one thing. it needs a lot of upgrades. I'm sure with upgrades it can be a great gun. I don't doubt it. But most guns can and the price to take this gun to impulse or shocker level will leave you spending up to the amount where you may as well have bought a shocker.

furthermore don't take my word for it, go to pbreview and look at how consistant defects are when noted. Feedneck, Materials, Chops even with eye, weak reg.. etc

Did you accually take the barrel off and test the paint before you shot any. Im not aware of the bore size of the Ion barrel but Im pretty sure its different then the stock A5 barrel.

About the Detents

Thats what SP said. I wasnt aware that people were finding them to be weak. Someone should really contact SP about this(if they already havent).

The breaks once again is a problem with ALL markers, not just the Ion. Matching the paint to bore is accually very hard to do, due to the cause of paintballs not being perfect(and never will be). This can also be cause by humity and the paint could of been old(old probably wasnt the problem because unless you bought it while ago).

Also, I believe the word PWNED was only used once in this thread by me, and I am not a bunch of kids, much less more then one person. No need to flame everyone else in this thread because I said PWNED at the end of my post. It was a bit immature of me, but I believe a PWNED made a good ending to my 4 paragraph post.

You said the gun couldnt keep up loader. The Ion is capable of 17 bps(which has been proven). The loader would have to of been a Halo B or a Reloader B for it not be able to keep up with the loader. But you really want your loader to be faster, so it doesnt chop.

Velocity Spikes are cause due to the fact that the Reg they used isnt that great. A new reg can easily fix that. Or fine tuning it, which I only know a few who had success with it.

One of my friends(a newer player) recently bought one, I will be sure to check it out tommorow. I will be sure to check these detents too.

Im sorry if you took this in the wrong way, but you need to realize that the problems you saw or experienced wasnt due to the marker, but the user.

i wouldn't call it a tippmann. tippy has this reliability thing i don't think maybe other brands deserve.

anyways.. nobody should be telling me the problems i had were user related. Stand point and fire isn't doing anything that would cause the gun to malfunction.

i once again encourage people to read reviews on PBreview that are actually constructive.. (as opposed to including the ones by people that can't pay attention to detail or don't really test the marker)

Its not your fault, when I said user error, its that its not the guns fault. The person who loaded that paint, loaded with paint that didnt work well with the Ion.

I went to PBreview and read the first 7 pages(aint reading all 15). The average is a 9.1. I have only found a few with real problems with the marker, but every company makes lemons. 90% of the people were happy with it and thought it performed extremely well.

If you are going to continue this useless rant then please leave, as no one want to hear people come here and whine all day. Its already a big problem in this forum, you dont need to make it any worse.

I said I was done but Zesty I'll reply to your post. The gun isn't 100% bad but I gave it a harsh review because of all the hype and people praising it as "as good as high end shockers etc.."

the gun falls very short of that..

If you read.. there are some positive mentions but not much really. Hell today I found out you basically need to disassemble the entire gun to clean it. yikes.
