does anybody know of a better gun the ion that is in the 200-300 dollar range.

Diablo Wrath. Faster, cheaper, and better looking than the ion. Not to mention it doesnt contain the SP name.

I would go with a stock class CCI Phantom... WAY better but but I'll assume you don't want o play pump. You could get a used cocker or Impulse with than kind of money. Smart Parts has horrbile service, but their products ARE for the most part good.
