ive found these 2 different expansion chambers made by tippmann for the 98 custom is there a difference?

One looks better on the 98. That's the only difference.

I think the first one is a 2 stage, while the latter is a 4-6 stage. Not sure about that though. -------------

The top picture features Tippmann's older 2 stage. The second pic contains Tippmann's newer 2 stage. Old vs. New I don't know much about the new xchamber, but the old one was solid. I'd go with what Snipa69 said and go with the old one if you can stand the way it looks. -------------
