you can not anno a tippmann. Its made of pot metal so it will melt it the during anno. check out nelson county customs. great work on P/Cing |

| a tippmann is not one metal. Like stainless steel or alumiunm(sp?) the shells are made of cheap metals put into a compound. Some of these metals have lower melting temps then others. So if you were to put it though any heating, parts of the gun would melt, leaving you with a screwed up tippmann |

They both use electrical charges to bond colorization to
aluminum. However powder coating uses static cling to attach
powder to the metal, while annodizing takes advantage of aluminum's
tendency to rust itself a protective layer, using more intense
electrical charge to dye the layer of invisible oxidation on aluminum's

Where there is will, there is way...never say never on what can not be done...and yes I too have seen anodized Tippmann markers....do a search and you will find it....but, then again most of you kids refuse to do that. ------------- Do not steal....the government hates competition!

if you read the ads in the mags they tell you to that the gun is made out of cast aluminum not cheap pot metal second anodizing is strictly used for aluminum while powder coating is used for all metal. with powder coating [which tippmann probably use] the powder is sprayed on using electricty then put in a powder coating oven and BAKED ON USING HEAT. if cdacda13 is correct in his kwoldge then all the 98 +a5 will melt in the oven and we will not be shooting are markers

What the hell is "pot metal"?
Cast aluminum is no different that any other aluminum sans the percentages of the metals that go into making them. Cast aluminum tends to have more silicate in it than regular machined aluminum because the silicate aids in flowability of the metal. There are also a few other alloying agents in there that give cast aluminum its distinct properties. There really is no such thing as pure aluminum or any other metal being used today. Everything is an alloy, which means that there is a majority of a base metal combined with few to many other elements which give certain characteristics. Cast aluminum normally consists of pure aluminum, copper, silicon, magnesium, zinc, tin, etc. Same goes for wrought and billet aluminums as well, just having varying percentages of those elements. Same with steel. All steel really is iron, with a certain percent of carbon and a few other items in less than 1%. Even typical iron isn't pure iron, but a mixture. And aluminum isn't the only metal that is or can be anodized. Many other metals are anodized, just not in the quantity of aluminum. I believe the reason why Tippmanns aren't considered anodizable is because their castings aren't too great. There are a lot of inclusions (open spaces in the metal) along with a pretty coarse grain (measure of how large the metal crystals are) which lead to uneven and rough surface finishes when anodizing. Certain things can be done to make them anodizable, but it is normally just easier to paint over top of the metal completly avoiding any potential for the metals structure to change the final finish. ------------- Which falls faster, a lead ball or your IQ after reading some of these posts? http://www.pennstatepaintball.com" rel="nofollow - PSU Paintball |
