Its called backups dude, start making them. I am sure itunes didnt just delete all your music files from your computer, look around where they were stored, they have to be somewhere. If not, call apple and demand a refund/credit for the ammount of songs lost. They prolly wont believe you, but you can try.

Edit: ILP, didnt you read? He plugged in his ipod and it most likely auto updated, deleting all the songs that were no longer in itunes from his ipod too.

Hmmm, try searching your computer for a song name or somethin. But thats pretty retarted if you remove a file from ur computer then its gone forever, and apple doesnt give u it for free? what if u have to reformat your HD with your 2000+ songs?

If you were smart and on a mac, getting files off the ipod is super easy. Show hidden files, open ipod while it is a removable device, open the music folder, copy all songs and drag them onto computer.

A problem I had was when I tried to organize my music in the my music folder.  It gave me an error for every song.  I just had to import them again.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music

copy that into your browser
(yes its supposed to be linked to HD, cause its standard)

That is because you didn't put them in your itunes music folder in your program files.

Did you move any folders around that have to do with your music? What exactly happens when you open itunes, are the songs there, you just can't play them?

It's probably just gone from your iTunes, not your computer. Search for "mp3" and your music should be in whatever folders it shows you, just highlight it all, drag it to iTunes.
good luck

Same.

I'll buy music if I can't find it anywhere else. I get a lot of my music from movie soundtracks, which often use fairly obscure musice

thanks for the help guys.  So, what happened i guess is limewire messed it up.  I deleted limewire and all the music came back...except for my playlists, i have to re-do those.  Kinda bummed about the playlists, but god damn am i happy to have all my music back.

Thanks again, guys.
