tippmann guns are really bad. If you are new to paintball, do not get confused and get a tippmann. These guns are over priced and for $200 you can get something better. The tippmann gun stock sucks and you have to pay a lot more to upgrade it. By the time you upgrade your gun to the max, it could be around $800. For $800 you can get another gun that can rape the 98 custom. I think that it is a smart choice to choose another gun (that is electric) and get something better.

The prices aren't to satisfy you... Companies need to make money..
They're not gonna lower prices for your satisfaction... Tippmann's that
get converted to Electro (E-Grip/E-Bolt) are amazing guns...
And I know that there is many people here that would back me up on that one because it's true...

Now now, Felix can come here and give whatever opinion he likes, same goes for pchang.
I will say this, my only interaction with Felix leads me to believe he is a good guy, but somewhat of a poser.
he claims to be Oliver Lang's brother, just FYI...don't know if that's true or not, but I'm skeptical someone with a brother playing professional paintball has so little grasp on the ins and outs of the game.
Felix, you obviously are a speedball player. Why didn;t you research more before you bought your gun? I mean, sure, a Tippmann can hold it's onw in speedball, but it really is more of a woods gun.
I'm sorry, but if you wanted a gun that was more geared towards speedball, you should have done your research and bought one.
There's no reason to go telling every new player not to buy a Tippmann just because YOU made a stupid purchase!
You can tell them what you don't like about the gun, and give your strong opinion, but it's really kinda classless to say "Don't buy Tippmanns, they suck" on a Tippmann site.
Basically, your bad opinion would be taken more seriously if you could be taken more seriously.
But I think anydbody that's seen some of the questions you've asked will know you really need to do some more research before you start giving out advice.
And also, I really don't think there's a $350 gun that can match the A5/E-Grip's performance.
|
Posted By: Zesty
Date Posted: 03 April 2005 at 9:50am
And just so you guys know where Pchangs coming from, this is a question he asked about the gun in his sig:
"It's probably a stupid question but is the b2k5 electric and how do you set up the air thingy(where the nitro goes) can you give me step by step insructions?"
That should show you how much he knows about paintguns and how seriously you should take his and Felix's opinions..

Zesty, olivers my cuz. Not my brother and not to be a snob. Zesty, first of all, pachnerg has nothing to do with me. He is just agreeing which doesn't mean i don't know anything about paintball. But i liked how you said that i could have a strong opinion and yes i am a speed ball player and yes i did research before i bought. But, i didn;t thinkt that i would have to pay $230 for an electronic grip. I think that if the grip was still made and was less, i wouldn't care. Now i am buying a gun off my cuz. I think that it would be a smart choice to pick a different gun because of the fire speed. Sure the A-5 has a good speed of around 15 bps, but you could get a gun that comes with a grip for ceaper and shoots faster and comes with a much better barrel. I think that the tippmann guns aren't really a good marker, but a good first gun. Zesty i do agree with somethings that you say, fyi

No offense to you or any other Speedballer, but why do u find it soo nessesary to shoot alot of paint very quickly. Felix I think you are being a little b1tch... Why would you post a thread on a forum on the site of the gun you're talking on? I like my A-5 mostly because I'm in high school and I worked my ass of to spend the $300 to get the gun and the flatline :), but also because its the best gun of any of the guys that I play with. I am defenetly not the best guy out there. If you rely on how fancy fast your gun is then you rely less on how good you are at the sport. I personly don't think that there would be a difference between getting taged by a guy with 75$ Spyder or a guy with $1,000 dollar Angel. Either way im gona scream "**edited**" cuz i have paint on my shirt and i have to go sit out. So if its me against your "cousin" and I have the Angel and he's got the Spyder I'm pretty sure I'm gona get my ass kicked.
So go away and stop being a little b1tch

The A5 costs about $230 brand new, and the E-Grip is less than $120...that equals about $350 for a paintgun that can feed and fire reliably at 13+bps. Sure, it's not a true electro, but I don't think the dude bhind the bunker being hit by 13bps really knows the difference.
Just for the record, you did tell me that Oliver Lang was your brother, so now I really think you are lying!

Tippmanns in all honesty are not good speedball guns. And yes by the time you make them into a decent speedball gun you have spent way too much money and should have bought something else. But for woodsball there isn't anything better, and nothing can compare with how tough a tippmann is.

"But for woodsball there isn't anything better, and nothing can compare with how tough a tippmann is."
A good Woodsball tippmann will ned at least a better barrel and a
regulator, but with some aftermarket parts you're right. My personal
setup is a 98C with flatline, car stock, and Palmer's regulator. It
does the job nice. If ou want a quality stock woodsball/scenario gun,
look at an Ariakon or an Armotech. Great accuracy out of the box, and
killer looks.

Well, if you wanted a speedball gun why didn't you drop over a grand for an angel or DM5? No reason? Oh, you couldn't afford it. Well, neither can I. So, I started off with $230. Then added when I got some money, then repeated, until I built the gun I wanted. I choose Tippmann over Kingman because Tippmanns are built much better and last longer. For under $300, there aren't many choices. An Ion maybe, but I can see those falling to pieces within a year. The cheap 'cocker could have been an option, but "cheap" and "(auto)cocker" don't belong in the same sentence. If you wanted a cheap "speedball" gun out of the box, a Viewloader Triad w/ electro grip would get the job done. Wouldn't last a year, but it'll work. You could go ahead and buy three of them, so you don't have to worry about going to the store for a while to replace them.
Tippmanns, even after needing upgrades, still come out cheaper with really good performance as high end guns. The A-5, however, does the best job at competing with high ends. 98C's take more work, but they can do it too.

Zesty, Sugar Free, and Brihard have it right, in my opinion. Tipps are great Woods/Senario guns, with little upgrading needed. If you are unhappy with it, sell it and get what you want. It's that easy. I did get a second gun for speedball, but I prefer my Tippmann when I'm in the woods.
The rest of the you guys need to lay off the flaming. We are allowed to have an opinion without being flamed, as long as it's stated nicely.

Hold on to your hats kids, because here goes ....
First of all my name isn't spelled incorrectly, its called creative, which you would know nothing about, douche bag. Just look at your name, Redtide62, what a joke, and you dare mention my screen name. Second, I don't want you to impress me with your spelling .... You know this is a forum, and the WHOLE purpose is to communicate with others; which is impossible if you make no sense what so ever. Last but not least, "female gossip forum", please, I have more testicular fortitude then you and all the big hairy men that you dream about in your sleep.
Piss off dude; your a waste of my time .....
And to everyone else, sorry for that flaming, and to stay on topic,

I agree with both sides here. The stock triggers on Tippmann markers do suck balls, they are not adjustable, the trigger pull is crap, and the springs are a pain if you don't know what you are doing. But Tippmanns are the king in the woods, you will never find a gun that is more reliable than a Tippmann, not even $1000 markers can compare to the durability and reliability of a Tippmann 98C. If you are a speedballer then yes, stay away from Tippmann if you don't feel like upgrading... a lot. If you play woodsball a Tippmann will be your best friend. It all just depends on how you play.

^paintball freak^, i agree that tippmanns are VERY reliable, but i dont agree that the stock triggers are crap and the pull is crap. personally i like the stock trigger.
and also, felix, ur not going to change anyones mind by saying "Tippmanns suck........dont buy them"

mattie5960, that deal is decent, but i wouldn't buy it. The mask is probably gonna suck, and the M98C comes with an hopper anyways....it would be better to just buy the stock M98C and buy a mask you try and like.
Also, basically every paintball gun can shoot the same speed, it's really irrelevant since the fields mandatory limit is nothing over 300fps. So even if you had a gun that could shoot 1,000fps, it would be pointless.
But just for your info, you can make almost any paintgun shoot pretty damned fast...I know for Tippmanns you can just get a stronger drive spring and easily get into the high 400fps and even over 500fps...but like I said it's pointless.

speedball, usually smaller area than woodsball. Usually hide behind balloons and are shooting most of the time.
woodsball- in the woods in a bigger area. It is more of a camouflage/stealth thing.

okay, what would being in an open field thats maybe a 200 yard square with nothing for coverage except bushes, and 3-4 foot deep holes fall under? speedball or woodball? Also what would being in the woods fall under? is a Kingman Spyder Xtra a good gun for these conditions? Is a Tippmann 98 custom good for these conditions?

^Mattie, it sounds to me like the style you are playing would be sort-of a woods/speed hybrid.
Personally, I wouldn't buy a Spyder. Despite the look, they are not much more compact than a Tippmann and weigh basically the same, but the Tippmann has better balance so it feels lighter. The Spyder may comes with more upgrades for less money, but the gun is more prone to malfunctions and breakdowns that a Tippmann.
Basically, the Spyder is not a bad gun, it's just not as realiable or durable as a Tippmann.
I feel like Spyders may have more options for the same price, but those options aren't done well....the Tippmann isn't as flashy, but it shoots just as straight and fast and far, and is gonna do it without giving you a headache.
Some people love Spyders and have good experiences, so don't take my word as gospel.
But the overwhelming majority of people that have tried and/or owned both will tell you they feel the Tippmann is more hassle-free, in the longrun especially.
