If you have ever seen Band of Brothers you will know what im talking about.  The part of the movie which is during the battle of the bulge they are in the ardennes forest.  The forest part was filmed in an old airplane hanger.  They had fake snow trees everything all in this hanger.  If some one had enough money they could easily have the same thing done and turn it into a paintball field.  You could have scenario games of the battle of the bulge in it.  That would be so much fun to play in.

this is a pic from in the hanger

Well, Skirmish, PA and OK D-Day are WWII based scenario games. It is a good idea though, but it's pretty much been done.

You are all right, there have been battle of the bulge scenario games before, but not any like the one that P8nthavcmkr has suggested. He said he would like to see it in a huge hanger w/ a set just like the one in Band of Brothers, I think it would be really cool because it would have all the feel of the battle of the bulge, except it is with paintball markers, no one is dying ( hopefully ), and it isn’t cold because it is in a giant hanger w/ fake snow. The only problem is that you would have to be a millionaire in order to do this thing, just like P8nthavcmkr said.

Great idea but why not just make one outside with the same terrain? It would be a lot easier and you could use tanks.

MT. Vigilante is the only one who seems to be understanding me.  Its way different and way more realistic than any of the other WWII scenarios that have happend, and dovehunter9 it cant be done out side because of how its made.  The fake snow could blow away and rain could ruin the set because its all fake trees and fake snow making it look realy real and you wont have to worry about watering the trees or the cold of real snow.  Just go watch episodes 6 and 7 of Band of brothers and you will understand what I mean.  Also with indoor you can have electronic devices that can make the sounds and flashes of a real battle to enhance the realism. O yea and about the tank thing.  For awhile only the Germans had tanks and the tanks cant fit in the woods. Only until Patton broke through, would we the Americans have tanks.

Ok one of the Band of Brothers episodes for the Battle of the Bulge  is on tonight at 9:00 Pacific time on the history channel, just watch it and you will understand what I mean, and of course not all of it is inside but the parts during the shellings are.

I read the book the series was based on,I was just offering a realistic way of making your field. If you want realistic go outside in subzero temps eat frozen food and watch the Germans eat warm meals along with almost unlimited ammunition. Also the only side that did much shelling during the first week or so,and after the first 2 days, was the Germans. Also the tank thing-there were 4 German Panzer Divisions and one German Parachute Division-This is straight from the book Bamd of Brothers.
That is what happened at Bastogne.

Dovehunter when I was talking about the shellings I was talking about E-Company being hit by the shellings, and the Germans were the only ones shelling until Patton broke through and the weather cleared, also the Germans were shelling the American lines for more like a month or more.

I was referring to the fact that the American artillery used all their shells during the first day or so. When the weather cleared, the Americans dropped shells from C-47s to replenish their supply.(this happened before Patton broke through.) I was talking about Easy Co. too. The book is a great war book. It has way more info. than the miniseries. If I were going to make this scenario it would be more realistic outside and cheaper. If you were rich your idea would be great, but this is a much cheaper way.

I went to a Stalingrad Scenario game at Skirmish PA in March. There was snow and bunkers (no foxholes) similar to that. It seemed very realistic and reminded me of the Ardennes forrest and Bastogne battles especialy near our base which was all pineland. It was sweet dude.

Truth be told, I don't think playing in a hanger on a set of a forest really adds to anything. If anything, it detracts from the total experience.

It would be very easy to do the same thing outside. You can easily rig up air mortars to create the sounds of explosions and fling dust in the air, but to have the same thing indoors is unsafe and you would get killed on insurance to do it.

And if you do it outdoors, in the winter, you get Bastogne. In the Spring you get Carantan. Not to mention the added bonus of getting to use tanks.

Just my opinion.

Dude Bastone during the Battle of the Bugle looked nothing like Carentan not even close, plus what i want to make is the forest part of the battle of the bulge not the city, and in my opinion most paintball tanks are lame, and triggerhappy that sounds pretty cool but i can never go because of damn school.
