I'm thinking about painting my new A-5, but i don't know what to use for paint.  I've seen many of your guns painted and they all look awesome.  Do you just paint with spray paint and use a clear coat or do you use enamles and car paint?   Please E-mail me at mailto:ledbass13@yahoo.com - ledbass13@yahoo.com or contact me some how.  Thanks for your time,

you know whats funny.  THe fact that i painted my A-5 red like a month ago, and now all of a sudden everybody wants to do the same thing after i posted my pictures.  haha cool. anyways im nice enough to help.

First get 220 grit sand paper.  lightly sand the A-5 receivers until they look kinda of grey. don't sand to much to as where you an see the shiny aluminum color.  This greyish black smooth sanded down finish will act as your pimer coat.    Now buy some painters tape, the color of chocie spray paint, and some clear gloss or clear satin paint.

tape off with the painters tape al of the internals of the receivers, so paint will not hit the internals.  Its sort of annoying, but its neccessary.  Also i advise you to put some painters tape over the A-5 logo on the right receiver.  After thats done get ready to paint.  Lay down some newspaper, and put both receiver halves down. shake spray paint can for about 2 mins, and then start shooting about 10 inches away.  straf your hand over the receivers becuase you dont want globs of paint in certain areas.  Make sure too paint from all angles, so that you get every external nook and cranny.  now let set for 1 hour.  Come back and put another light color coat on again.  let sit for 1 hour. come back and put the 3rd coat on.  Let sit for 1 hour.  Then  get redy for the CLEAR COATing.  do the same thing for the clear coat, but do only 2 coats, and wait 4 hours in between each coat.  at the end your done.  take off painters tape.  your done.

I actually painted some more of it as well.  i painted my trigger which was a pain in the A** because it's plasitc but it turned out good., I also painted portions of the front grip, so now my a-5 is completely finsihed. everybody at the local field loved my a-5 with the new color.

ONE MORe thing.  hey "THE GUY" I know where to stick my boot. straight up your a**. give the kid a break you **edited**.  just because your  lazy and don't want to help doesnt give the right to make smart ass comments.

anyways theres your directions on how to paint your gun a a single color.  and he posted in here because it relates to the same theme of a gallery.  painting your marker deals with LOOks which can run in coimparison with a gallery. Wow am i smart or what. leave the kid alone.

and what else did i find. look at the zbuss post.  he has something like 7 post's total.  that must mean that he's new to the forums.  you know something about that,. why don't we make him feel good about being on this forum instead of giving him jackass welcoming. haha.

Bravo WarriorSnake!!! Well said.

And in keeping with the topic...I like to use RustOleum Textured
spray paint available from Home Depot. I haven't posted lately
because most of you have seen my guns. Why keep posting
the same things? Although this week I'm going to airbrush an
A-5. We'll see how that works.......Stay Tuned.

hey, there are many diffrent ways to paint, i personaly like to use automotive paint, the paint jobs always come out glossyer, and more indepth. First sand blast, or use a high grit sand paper to remove stock paint, next use a fine grit sand paper to remove all of the inprofections in the metal, Next i used bondo to full in all external parts i didnt want, (i recomend using a grinder to remove tippmann name, then sand paper to round off to body), then clean off the surface, wipe it dry. Then go out and get a primer made for the type of base coat you plan to use, whether it be spray paint or automotive. Lay down one heavy coat, allow it to semi dry, and lay down a few more light coats. allow the primer to dry. then uses your base coat, be sure to lay a heavy coat down on first pass, and be sure to get all parts of the gun, handle and sight rail. Then apply a few more light coats to get the depth you want. allow it to dry, then apply the clear coat in the same fashion as the base, apply to the amount of gloss you want, i put 4 coats on my gun, i got a very high gloss. hope this helps here are some pics of my gun, and the results using auto paint.
