I'm looking at buying an A5 as a first marker. I hear its very durable. What materials is it made from, does it have a plastic feel??

I would say most of the important parts are metal and the rest looks like high density plastic. You will be thrilled with the feed system, they engineered around the expensive hoppers and I think this is the only feature that in a large way sets the A-5 apart from any other marker.

It has a good feel, but a heavy barrel like a boomstick changes the balance totally from say, a carbon fiber. I notice more difference then I would expect.

I think the chimpsiest looking parts are the sights, you'll want to take those off - they are mostly useless and block your view.

I'm guessing with the flatline its nicely weighted, especially if I get one of the coil things so you can put the canister in one of those waist holtster things............

if that makes sence!

You mean running a remote line to a tank on your harness.

The barrel will change the feel of any marker; don’t let that dissuade you. I personally think the flatline is a POS and have my personal reasons. If curious just ask but I don’t want to start a war on here about it. Everyone misses the point that the best barrel is what’s best for them. If you run remote with a flatline get a gas-through stock so you can hold it steady. But if you have a stock – why run remote?

The A-5 is modeled like a carbine. Therefore keep a relatively short barrel on it for ease of ergonomics and balance ect.

What type of games do you play? Get some practice and let the game tell you what you need.

well, i've only been a few times at my local place, there's no paintball shops for about 150 miles. the shop ~I'm looking at getting everything from is doing money off the marker and the flatline at half price for me plus lots of extra stuff mask etc of a little cheaper.

I'm gonna look in a few months into changing it into an MP5 look I think

Round here its all very woodland sort of stuff....

Well get a good mask. Ability to see and hear makes all the difference in the world especially in the woods.

Half price flatline? Either your in good or I wish you best of luck.

Yeah I found this shop up north in the UK, phoned them up and they're going to do it half price for me, spending about £280, so they're saving me about £70-80 in  total roughly :)

280 pounds?! Jesus buy it from an American site. We sell it much cheaper here, just find a place that will do international shipping. The A-5 doesn't feel too terribly cheap. The frame is die-cast aluminum with high density plastic. The foregrip and stock barrel are pretty bad, but those are easy upgrades to handle.

For £280 I'm getting The A5, the Flatline barrel. 20oz cyliner with on/off valve, battle pack, JT elite mask, and 500 balls I think.

Was going to get fro the US but I think the VAT getting through customs would sting a bit, plus shipping from the US on items like that is about £50!

The word TIPPMANN should sum up if the A-5 is durable or not.  Good Luck with your decision.

I own an A and M98C and ProCarnie and the way I see it is this: Along with my paintguns, I also own a few firearms. One of them is a Winchester model 1300 12guage shotgun, and another is a Remington Model 700 .270 rilfe.

Both of them have "plastic" stocks, and IMHO, the "plastic" on the A5 is actually higher-quality!

And that's not to say my real guns are cheaply made! It's just to say how solid the A5 feels despite it's polymer pieces.

The cocking lever is the only thing that feels even remotely flimsy, and I am pretty strong and have actually tried to break it off with no success.

The gun is seriously one of the toughest on the market.
