BAD LINK. It brings you to a microsoft site.

Fake article, most likely- why would they make 98C upgrades with the new Custom Pro out?

They tested the original cyclones on 98's before they put them on the a5's. I've seen pictures that were pretty cool.

I'm guessing they'll price it so that it evens out with the A-5 when the same parts are bought.
So....

225 (A-5)
-139(98C)
-20(verticle adapter)
-parts 98c cant have
= >$66

Im guessing it'll be $60-70 dependin on what price tippmann puts on Quick field stripping ect

if you are original you could just buy the cyclone feed seperate and attach it to the feed elbow...It would be like 30 bucks for the cyclone by itself...

Me and a friend had an idea to do that a year ago and we actually started...but never finished...ah well

Most intellegent thing said in this thread. I don't get why everyone is all googly over the cyclone. Centerfeed = better balance. Good electrohopper = faster then cyclone. Yeah it coests more, but it is more effective. Not to mention the gas the cyclone uses, even though it is "exhaust gas."

Me no likey cyclone.

Look at it. It appears all they did was make an adaptor
for the cyclone that lets you mount it on the 98c, With
that "C" shaped ball deflector build in. Instead of being
part of the frame as it is on the A-5

^Why?

Cyclone runs off Dead gas, requires no batteries, can feed at 18pbs, has an Anti-Jam System so no more "Brime trail chopping".

The only, and i mean only thing that makes the Cyclone Faulty its bulk.

why get it for a 98, let alone make it. its the BIGGEST feed system on the market. i personaly think its a bad idea. hopefully they come out with a better hopper. and the only good thing about tippmanns, is that you can snap shoot to the left and you have a low chance of getting hit. cause all there feenecks or feed systems are on the right. i got away from my 98. coulndt stand all those people that shot me like 20 times. and i got my EVO for 300 and thats the price of wat an Ebolt used to be. but now its cheeper. and i like the look and durability, but my friend just got a brand new egrip and it had the HEAVIEST trigger pull you could imagine. RIDICULAS. i put in a lighter spring, but now the safty dont work. it shoots even when the safeties on.

Forumers had the idea long before tippmann decided to release it but from what I hear, the prototype of the cyclone was made on the 98. Basically, they're just selling us something they've had around since before the A5 was released. They probably waited to release it so that the A5 would get more sales before people decided to just cyclone their 98's which is what people will be doing now. A few people have successfully done it anyway but now it'll be something available to everybody. A centerfeed with a fast hopper would work great but that's just not possible on the 98 without cutting part of the receiver half off. The hole is not directly on top of the gun so a ball can't fall straight down into the breech, it has to come from the side. That said, a cyclone feed is a great option. You can get a good 16 bps from it for probably only $50. It would be slightly bulky but you wouldn't need batteries. It has its good and bad qualities, you just have to decide for yourself whether it's worth it or not. I think it was a good idea.

maybe your right commsando. So maybe they will stll release amarker ands thats whythey are releasing the 98 cyclone. Theyre willing to take a sales drop on A-5s because they'll make afew bucks off the 98 cyclone, then release a new marker to make up for the A-5s sales drop. who knows?

The 98 already is a gas hog.... and the cyclone, just like on the A5, runs on blowback gas, the stuff that's left over.

Posted By: tayborg5
Date Posted: 06 May 2005 at 1:07am

eh, im kinda sketchy on it. It seem to use to much gas, also on my old a-5, it messed up some.(had to manually pump it alot.) The way there building it for the 98 is surprisingly simple. I honestly didnt think it could be done near this easy. ( i wonder? what hopper whould go on it? the same as the a5? oooh, R-5???? k i think i like it now.

God, how many times do we have to say it, the cyclone or RT use no more gas than without them! It's extra blowback gas, its even been tested and they have the same exact efficiancy. Instead of that extra gas being vented out, its used for the cyclone or RT.

Looks to me like tippmann is trying to phase out the "omgwtf milsim" a5, and take a step backwards to the less militaristic A5.

No suprise, i figured they would go tourney junk when they sold out.
