It's music.  There are rhythms and notes.  That's what makes music.

Rap and Hiphop takes alot of skill, and just as much talent as anything you listen too.

A different kind of skill and talent yes, but talent none the less...

Guess what my favorite genre is?

Classic rock.

First, please try being original and not spout cliche'd remarks about the mental ability of rappers.

Second, listen to Talib Kweli. He makes more intelligent songs than most rock bands could ever hope to dream of making, and he sounds good while doing so. Mos Def is the same way, along with Nas.

Third, if the name of the game is to make retarded remarks about what the crappy artists of the genre sing/rap about, then rock is all about, well, I dont know. I dont listen to crap. (thats not to say all rock is crap, but most of what I hear on the radio is)

Although eminem can be a tad crappy at some times, along with snoop, dre, and DMX.

You also forgot about Talib Kweli(he's like the new tupac imo), Mos Def, Jedi Mind Tricks, Wu Tang, and Cahmillion, even though he does lack the ability to make music that means something, he does make catchy songs.

Talib Kweli is great, I really like his music. His song, ""around my way" is one of the best songs ever. Im really thinking of picking up his new CD.
"Get by" is great too.
Your right about eminem and snoop and DMX. Dre, i can't find a song of his i dont like.
Mos Def is really good too, but he doesn't get enough attenion.
Wu tang WAS really good, but they kinda stopped being good.
I never like Jedi mind tricks or cahmillion.

I said it before, 50 cent and Ja  rule are the worst things to ever happen to rap music since  vallia ice.

All right stop, Collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop? Yo - I don't know
Turn off the lights and I'll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.

Tupac-Changes

and still I see no changes, can't a brother get a little peace?
there's war on the streets
and the war in the Middle East
instead of war on poverty
they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me
and I aint never did a crime I aint have to do
but now I'm back from the locks givin back to you

Dropkick Murphy's-Wheel of Misfortune

If the price is your life son, you'd better think twice as
you march to the front like a soldier

Tupac- Keep ya Head up

And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't then we'll have a race of babies
That hate the ladies that make the babies
And since a man can't make one

HE HAS NO RIGHT TO TELL A WOMEN WHEN AND WHERE TO CREATE ONE

Those are great songs

Around my way- Talib Kweli
People let me paint a picture
You know I ain't a christian
I ain't a muslim, ain't a jew
I'm losing my religion
I speak to god directly
I know my god respect me
Cause he let me breathe his air and he really blessed me
I ain't knocking you, but I don't **edited** with hospitals
Spit the gospel, truly knowing jesus like apostles do
Return like the prodigal son to honor Mohammed too
Stay away from ham like Abraham, Lord'll follow you
Even when you took my man Chaka God and what I'm a do
You gave the hood a modern day martyr in Brother Amadou
I'm on the block, I'm tracing your footsteps, I keep the faith in you
Your love, plus hard work and ambition
We gonna make it through, my songs is psalms I'm spiritual when I'm lyrical
This is for my soldier **edited**az looking in the mirror who
Sitting home scratching off serials eating cereal
The way we find a way to survive, **edited** is a miracle
We got mice in the crib and roaches in the toasters, rice in the fridge
Bread in the oven by the roaster
We be takin' gypsy cabs and chasin' 50 bags
They be laced with **edited**ty swag and it really get me mad
The way we saluting flags, wrapping them around our heads
when **edited**az ain't become American till 9/11
Feeling like you gotta sneak into heaven
When the reverend looking like a pimp and the pimp look like the reverend

Better dayz- tupac
Thinkin back as an adolescent, who would've guessed
that in my future years, I'd be stressin
Some say the ghetto's sick and corrupted
Plus my P.O. won't let me hang with the brothers I grew up with
Tryin to keep my head up and stay strong
All my homies slangin llello all day long, but they wrong
So I'm solo and so broke

My life- Styles P
My life is all I have
My rhymes, my pen, my pad
And I done made it through struggle, donÆt judge me
What you say now wonÆt budge me
Cause where I come from, so often
People you grew up with layinÆ in the coffin
But I done made it through the pain and strife
ItÆs my time now, my world, my life

Ok where to start, first off back to the comment and any others about rap taking talent is the dumbest thing i think i have heard in my entire life. I hardly constitue drum machines and synthesizers and having someone else write your lyrics count as skill. Besides i can talk into a microphone about non-sense but i don't get a contract. All music is today is about your looks. 99% of good music out there will most likely never get noticed. Also, nowdays people have absolutely no ear for music. Rap is not music plain and simple its a form of entertainment i don't know what to call it besides rap. Finally, Led Zeppelin most definately diserves the greatest band of all time. They influenced more bands then Pink Floyd i can garuntee you that. After all, the band with the most selling records is the Beatles followed by who else but Led Zeppelin. They had the greatest drummer of all time, The greatest singer of all time, the greatest guitarist of all time, and the greatest bassist of all time. Stairway to Heaven is the most requested song ever in history of radio. They were the most talented band in history. Whoever said i was racist is dumb. Just because that 95% of rappers are black doesn't mean i am racist. After all Jimi Hendrix is one of my favorite guitarists, and he's black.

Are you telling me rap doesn't take skill?

Have you ever tried it?

Sure it may take less skill than playing drums and singing at the same time, but it by no means takes no skill. It really isn't talking at all.

Radio crap=Not rap.

May? I'd love to see playing Dazed And Confused be compared to Saying some Kanye West song. Notice how i said "say" because they don't sing, that would be way to hard for them. Yes the beatles are also great but all in all they were not very talented with their instruments. The best songwriters though, God i love em.

I still don't understand how you can not classify rap as music. What makes you think this?

Sigh.. Led Zeppelin is highly overrated. I am going to assume you are in high school? It seems that half the the high school kids these days think nothing is better than classic rock. And anyways, Beatles >>>>>>>>>>>> Led Zeppelin And im not even a big fan.

Ugh. Tell me about it. Today, I was showing a kid my Mp3 player, and he says, "the only good band on here is Led Zeppelin". When I asked what music he listened to, he said nothing but classic rock. Figures.

I complimented your taste in music; it's sophisticated, and you apparently have made a noteworthy effort to surround yourself with some of the best music available.

Stairway to heaven, while being a good song, is completely overrated. So is Led Zeppelin. So is Pink Floyd. it's people like you that turn a good thing crappy.

And stop pulling random "facts" out of your ass about rap. If you claim to despise it so much, how come you know so much about it?

I would LOVE to see you come up with an orignal beat. Ever heard Twista, hes the fasest rapper out there, I would love to see any of your favorite singers rap as fast as he can, since rap doesn't take any skill. And, Rappers write their own lyrics. I doubt any crap bands you like can say that.

How is rap non-sense. You may friend, are a dumbass. 99% of good music doesn't get notice? Your taste in "good" music sucks, so I can't trust that.
Rap IS and ALWAYS will be music. How is it a form of entertainment? Just because thier music videos are 10x better than anything you like, its automaticly entertainment.

Led Zeppelin is NOT the greatest band ever. Sorry. They were good, but nothing special.

I come up with original songs on the piano and the guitar I play both. Classical music is by far superior to any music on this planet. How is Led Zeppelin nothing special???? You must play the recorder or something. Also i can garuntee you if i asked 100 people from my school who Led Zeppelin was they wouldn't know. All people care about are felons who get out of jail and talk into a microphone. Have you ever heard of Freddie Mercury he could sing faster in multiple tones then Twista could monotone speaking. You truly are an idiot and have no musical talent whatsoever. Please cease talking to me about music you know nothing. Led Zeppelin didn't write their own music??? Cream didn't write their own music??? The Beatles didn't write their own music, your stupid. What type of music do you like? I'd really like to know, 50 cent, perhaps Eminem? You are most likely a pimpled faced middle school kid. Also back to your idiot comment about music videos. Music videos didn't start til about the 80's so obviously you have never heard Led Zeppelin and i'd much rather watch a live band then a stupid music video about some black convict. I am much more intellegent then that.

PS WHO THE HELL IS OMAR?

No seriously who is he. Give me some info I wanna check his music out. I am a big fan of music, if there is a band or singer that i've never heard of it can't hurt to give them a listen. I defend Led Zeppelin as the greatest band of all time because they had so much talent. They also plunged rock into the crushing blues era. Songs like Since I've Been Lovin' You (My fav song) and I can't Quit You Babe, revolutionized how people listened to rock. Black Sabbath took a lot from Led Zeppelin. I don't even consider them rock so much. I'd consider them more blues, and rock n' roll which are totally diffrent. Bonham is the man. "You got a right foot like a rabit"- Jimi Hendrix.

By At the Drive-in, I would go with Relationship of Command. With The Mars Volta, I would go with Frances The Mute. These are both for guitar. The first mars volta CD is better overall though.

"H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
Fo' shizzle my nizzle used to dribble down in VA"

What the heck? That was a segment from the song "Izzo" by Jay-Z. Now let's take a close look at this song shall we? What the hell is an izz-o supposed to be? And what about izz-A? Shizzle? Nizzle? Ok, so let me get this straight, so rappers ran out of ideas and started making up words that rhyme with eachother to make a song sound moderately good? So now rap not only does not require any talent, now it doesn't require real words anymore. Is it really that hard to make up words that rhyme with eachother? Hell no. Why, if I was a wife-beating chick molesting rapper, I would make millions with my hit single, Izzily Dizzily.

How am i racist i own a color T.V. Just kidding no I am not racist. Like i said before Hendrix is one of my favorite guitarists. I just hate how most of the rappers out their are criminals who should still be in jail and contribute nothing to American Culture. Rap has plunged America into the dark ages of music yet again.
