I bought a 98 a couple of year back and never really had a problem with it.  I put a new power tube on it and no matter how much I change either of the velocity shrews (the new power tube came with two different valves) it tries to shoot two balls at once or if you turn the velocity down it will need to be recocked after 10-20 shots

I glued it back up. I am wondering if this tube is bad or if maybe I was supost to replace something esle along with the tube

I know when I put my palmer on I had to replace my 90 degree elbow and the line. was not sure if the 98 had something like that

Its the new powertube. Put your old one back in. Theres nothing better than your stock internals!

Thanks, I'm sure putting back the old broken power tube will REALLY help.

Are you sure you have enough pressure coming out of your regulator? Turn it up a bit.

I do not have a reg on the 98 only the A5

not sure whats wrong with not hissing anymore since I put that new power tube on
wondering if maybe something else along with the power tube went bad
I have played with both valves and I either get a multi-shot try or a recock every 10 or so shots

It is not firing more then one shot, but it tryies. It like the trigger is not stopping the hammer from hitting the tube again

If the "O" ring on the hammer does not seal well in the power tube the blow back gas will not kick it out briskly enough to allow the sear to engage. Install a new "O" ring on the hammer.

With stock hammer you really cannot run the pressure lower than about 450 psi and get consistent performance.

If you mean that it fires two balls then your detent needs to be replaced. If you mean that the gun fires twice with one pull of the trigger...like the first shot is OK but the bolt does not go to full cock so it drops a second time but, since it did not go to full cock position the shot is under powered...then read my first advise about replacing the "o" ring and use lithium grease on it to make a good seal.

Keep the power tube but install the stock Tippmann gas valve. Sounds like the spring in the replacement valves you received with the power tube may have a stiffer spring that keeps the valve from opening fully, thus not delivering a full charge of gas to the barrel.

Also, if the paint is small and loose fitting or you have the speed adjustment screw backed pretty far out there may not be enough gas being forced to the rear to cock the hammer.
