...sucked. My body realized so quickly that blood was being lost (my fluids flowed faster into the bag than they were supposed to) that I turned pale because of my body's efforts to keep blood in my major organs. I nearly threw up and had to go to the school clinic afterward because I could barely stand. As another low blow they threw away the half bag I managed to give claiming that it was "not enough" even though one bag can save up to 3 lives. Also, nobody realizes my generosity for trying to give blood and they all think I'm a wimp because my body couldn't handle doing it for the first time. Of course they have no right to say such things because they were too afraid to sign up but still I am given a poor reputation besides my efforts to help.

I can not stand blood. I really feal like passing out when I see it, hear people talking about it or even watch it. Props to you for giving blood. I would do it, but I don't want to pass out in the process.

Last time my blood was taken I passed out.  Right in the middle of school hit my head flat on the ground.

I also passed out.

Apparently I have some reaction to needles and shots (vasal vagal reaction or something like that)

My story is like this:

They put me on the table, stab me in the arm, and get going. I lifted the gauze to watch it, and the nurse told me that "first timers don't usually like to see that" I laughed at her.

Well, all of a sudden, my blood flow stops. The bag isn't full. So, the nurse comes over, and starts digging the thing around, and making a new hole in my arm to get the rest of the blood out.

Finally she finishes, I stand up, walk over to the juice table, sit down, take a slug of juice, and fall flat over onto the floor, throwing up lunch, which was a slice of mushroom pizza. When I woke up, my head was in a biohazard bag, and there was a piece of mushroom stuck to my nose.

They wouldnt let me leave. Every time I sat up, a nurse tackled me and put me back down on the girney they had. I finally snuck out the back door, threw up once outside, and kept running. I wasnt going back in there.

...so yeah.....my expierence with blood giving isnt all that grand. It really ticks me off, because when I tell people that, its 'haha, you're afraid of needles' when its actually a medical reaction. Now I'm afraid of passing out, which doesnt halp the image that I'm a wuss any.

Reb, my brother, I also had a needle dug around in my arm. First she put the needle in about an inch to the side of her target vein, and triend to push through the tendon that was in her way. I gave hear a good yell and told her that no, she couldn't stick me again, she either had a vein or no, cause it hurt like hell.

So she was twisting it around and pushing it in and out looking for something else, and eventually got blood flow. As soon as she let go it stopped, and she twisted it some more, and it flowed, and when she let got it stopped... on and on a few more times. Eventually it kept flowing, and she kneeled to write on the bag.

Now, you know that slick feeling of a waterslide? That's what I felt coming out of my arm when the needle she failed to tape down came flying out like a hose. I didn't realize it at first, but then some dark caught my eye and I looked down. Then at my next heartbeat a jet of my VERY LIFE'S BLOOD came a foot out of my arm into the air. I slapped two fingers on the hole and stopped it up and was very wide-eyed, not knowing what to do next.

The nurse stood up and, in a voice no more stressed than one commenting on what a nice day it is, asked if the needle had come out and if she might be able to put it back in. "HELL NO!"

I walked away from that one with a bruise down to my wrist and you need a rugby team to get blood out me now. Never again did I let a cheerleader talk me into anything.
